 Replacements of these filters come with genuine packs of miele bags, and i would check the filter a couple times a year to install a new bag, simply line up the arrows on both the bag and dock and the bag will slide into place when the bag door Is closed, there's tabs on the door that hold the bag up onto the dirt inlet. One thing to note: don't force the bag door open past where it stops? If you do and the bag door gets out of alignment, the bag won't seal to the dirt path. Properly and it can create a huge mess to access the hepa exhaust filter. You simply lift this lid on the cleaner head, pull the filter out slightly toward you, then the filter lifts out this cat and dog model features a very high quality

 One unique feature is the hose clicks and locks at the bottom at a low angle, and this makes the vacuum ultra stable when using the tools it's difficult to tip the vacuum over and it will just follow you around. All the tools can be attached to either the extendable wand or to the end of the hose one quirk on my early meal, upright that they addressed in later versions was that the end of the metal wand here could easily scrape furniture and baseboards, and the tools Are basically required for edge cleaning the newer versions of this machine added, a plastic cap to the end of the wand, and you can safely drag it along baseboards and grab crumbs without attaching any other tools: [, Music, ], [, Music, ], [, Music, ], [, Music, ] taking care of the vacuum is easy. You really have to worry about changing the bag when full checking the filters and cleaning or replacing them as needed, and cleaning a hair and thread build up from around the brush roll.  Pounds miele's u1, upright, is a whole lot of vacuum, but it does all its intended functions well and it's easy to switch back and forth for different cleaning tasks. I really think the only drawbacks are the weight and the longest dirt path, but otherwise i think it's one of the best, upright vacuums available. I always enjoy reading your comments.  It'S very maneuverable to zip around and has a very smooth feeling in operation. It lays flat to the floor and is surprisingly nimble for a vacuum its size. It also features a full set of excellent onboard tools, so the vacuum is very versatile. The vacuum has a long hose and will follow you around as you clean and won't tip over

The Miele Dynamic U1 PowerLine is a corded upright vacuum with impressive build quality. It delivers superb cleaning performance on bare floors and does a great job of picking up various kinds of debris on both low and high-pile carpet. It's extremely simple to maintain, with an intuitive design that makes it easy to take apart and reassemble. There's a few quality of life enhancements, including an on-board tool rack, a self-adjusting vacuum head, and an adjustable suction level

 It does use a bag. It does have a HEPA filter. It just works and it is easy to move around. This isn't the 1k dollar Miele

 This vacuum cost to much to perform so poorly. It is a poor design I hate to say. It isn't a Dyson, the only thing it has over a Dyson is it has a bag?

 I brought this up on a customer service call with Miele and they admitted the design flaw yet did expressed no interest in making an improvement. Overall, it's a good working vacuum but at the end of it's life cycle, I'll be looking for another model or brand that has functionality and user-experience as a higher priority.

 Lastly, the brush attachment has a swivel design but does not click in place to hold position, so that when you stroke it across any surface, the brush just swivels away from the surface.  There are some design flaws, in my opinion. First the cord retention does not function satisfactorily. The cord comes unraveled easily and you end up with several feet of tangled cord to deal with. The only way to keep it up is to hold one section in your hand and hope you wound the rest tightly enough around the hooks on the previous use that it doesn't fall off below your grip

 That is an amazing feat. For an encore it also picks up those pesky giant clumps of hair on my hardwood floor without blowing pieces away or up into my face and eyes. Its really miraculous. It beats our Dyson Animal hands down

So the bottom line is can this vacuum clean up the nemesis of my nemesis - that which is the dreaded cat sand. And to my great surprise, not only can it clean up infamous gritty kitty it doesn't sand blast your legs, arms, and eye sockets with flying chunks while doing so. That is an amazing feat. For an encore it also picks up those pesky giant clumps of hair on my hardwood floor without blowing pieces away or up into my face and eyes

Well Engineered Vacuum

 The swivel head and attached suction hose are really nice. I ding it one star because the door to get to the bag is very hard to open and close; I'm afraid that I will break something.  Save your money on the performance pack; you can buy it separately for slightly less. I bought the combination for an extra $100 over the vacuum alone

 Just buy the performance pack separately (it is much more economical than buying bags and filters not as the "performance pack.") Make sure to get the right pack.

Don't buy performance package; good vacuum

 It's sort of loose and overall just a little sensitive about being just right in order to lock upright. Also, the cord is constantly in the way when you're vacuuming. There's a little hook you're supposed to use to keep the cord from kinking and getting in the way- but the cord in no way stays on this little hook. Overall however, it's doing a great job with what I needed it for- a good deep clean for my area rugs

So far I really like this vacuum as far as performance. It has great suction which is what I was looking for for my area rugs to get the embedded dog & cat hair. It is REALLY heavy though. I might be extra sensitive because I've been using a canister vac for so long that an upright feels extra heavy

 I got the cat and dog model for a reason, but it seems this model can't handle the pet hair.  Update: After 5-6 trips to the vacuum repair shop I had to throw this vacuum away. I replaced it with a shark vacuum that cost just over $200. The shark vacuum is out performing this one by leaps and bounds
