 The Music Hall Classic is designed to appeal to a wide range of vinyl enthusiasts, with sound quality you would expect to find in most high-end turntables, but at an entry-level to mid-level price point. As you can see, it has a nostalgic or classic look, with its dark walnut veneer finish, with an additional nod to the record players of the past, in that it's a semi-automatic belt-driven turntable. For those who are unfamiliar with what semi-automatic means, when the record reaches its end, the tone armor will lift automatically, and the platter will stop spinning. This is a great feature if you're new to vinyl, as it will prolong the life of your needles

 Okay, now that we have everything set up, let's get some sound out of this turntable. First we want to install audio cables here, red for red, white for white, and then the ground wire. There we go. Next we're going to need some power, so you take the DC cable, just install that, and press this button to power it on

 Once you carefully remove it and all its components from the package, this is what you have left. Alright, so the first thing you want to do is take the turntable platter and set it very carefully on the spindle. And you want to have this window right here exposed to the motor there, so we can attach the belt. Okay, now Music Hall makes things nice and easy here, they provide this little piece of fabric here so you can very gently wrap it around the motor

 While this feature is common in many entry-level turntables, what makes the Classic unique is that the phono amp can be turned off. By making the phono amp bypassable, you have the option of using any amp you may already have, or easily upgrade it if so desired. Music Hall has done everything it can to make the Classic as plug-and-play as possible. They provide everything you need for a basic setup, including their Spirit cartridge, which has been pre-mounted and precision aligned

Music Hall Classic Review and Set Up

 I am in the process of returning the item and have no plans to buy another Music Hall Turntable ever again. There is reason, especially with a $649 turntable to have to put up with fourth rate quality.

 Other reviews on other sites about this Classic model have also mentioned that there are issues with the playback speed, and that when they had measured the speed amd had contacted Roy Hall (president and founder of Music Hall Audio) they have been told, by Mr. Hall) that the playback speed is within "the tolorance" for this model. I am in the process of returning the item and have no plans to buy another Music Hall Turntable ever again. There is reason, especially with a $649 turntable to have to put up with fourth rate quality

PLAYBACK SOUNDS TOO SLOW ESPECIALLY ON HIGH NOTES

 Now the tone arm just lifts at the end and the turntable turns off. The tone arm does not go back and return so it is not an auto return but it is auto lift. So where this really comes into play is if you don't want to be standing right next to your turntable the entire time, especially at the end of the record and not a lot of people do. Some people do

 The one that I do recommend and a lot of my customers do like is the Audio Technica ATLP3. This one is a fantastic turntable but it is definitely a tear down from where the Classic is in looks, feel, weight, build quality, but a fantastic turntable at that. But in a turntable that looks like this and you're going to put an auto lift on it, really piqued my interest. Vintage turntables feature that almost every single one of them

 It is going to make the biggest difference in your sound and a lot of times when people are deciding between a $400 or $500 turntable and a $200 or $300 turntable I tell them you might get better sound going with that $200 or $300 turntable if you put a better cartridge on it and spend the same amount of money as you would the other one rather than getting the higher end turntable with a stock cartridge. It is going to make a world of difference and depending on your budget you need to think about splitting the cost of that turntable and the cartridge. So definitely one thing that I would recommend upgrading on this would be the cartridge. So the other thing I think they could have did was do an auto return

BEST Turntable under $1000?! - The Music Hall Classic

Music Hall Classic is basically a Crosley C8 with fancier badge - excellent turntable at under $200, terrible at $600.

Thoughts and opinions on the Sony PS-LX310BT turntable and it's audio quality and capabilities. Looking for my first turntable. Was comparing this to potentially the Music Hall Classic or Fluance RT85. Would also love recommendations of other similar tables that have an auto stop function.

 I had to switch to the MC preamp inside the Emotiva (due to the 103 being an MC), but the combination of the Classic, the DL103, the Emotiva basX TA1 and Martin Logan Motion 60i’s is absolutely fantastic.  The Classic exudes refinement. From the touch-sensitive speed buttons on the front to the auto stop and lift at the end of the record, the Classic is quiet, smooth, and sounds amazing. I have been very pleased with this purchase
