 First I I had to move the router to where the DSL comes in, which is on one end of my home on the ground level. I didn't want to do a lot of rewiring, but with the router plus two satellites, it did leave a dead spot on ground floor on the other end of house. I bought thisabout 4 months ago to bypass the Verizon router.  Very easy to set up but except for running speed tests, I can't tell a difference.  The satellite doesn't seem to help any.  My phone seems to take longer to load apps than before and we have had some buffering on streaming tv for the first time in years though not a lot

Not as Good as I expected.

The Orbi is very expensive and I do not understand why I need to pay for wifi when I pay monthly for wifi in my home. Except that it did not work in my whole house only in one room. the Orbi is working now but I had to turn off the house wifi in order for it to work.

 Fixes the issue where IPv6 devices on the guest network can access the Orbi router’s web GUI. Includes security fixes for the following security vulnerabilities:PSV-2016-0133, PSV-2017-0607, PSV-2017-0615, PSV-2017-0736, PSV-2017-2190  So an update that supposedly fixes disconnect issues (which I never experienced) does the opposite and starts causing them instead. Thank you Netgear for breaking my perfectly wonderful wifi system. Apparently their engineering team has been spending most of their time introducing new Orbi devices and not spending much time refining their current firmware

 I waited about 10 minutes and it was still stuck, I tried again and the same thing happened, finally I gave up and called Netgear’s support.  Trying to navigate to NetGear’s support was another fun challenge, they seem to hide any way to contact phone support on their main website. They also want you to take a picture of your receipt that you bought the unit to get to support. I wasn’t having any of that, I was already getting fed up that this supposedly super easy Orbi was already giving me problems

The automatic checks come back with "service unreachable" -- really, Netgear, it's your OWN auto-update service! -- and the manual updates REFUSE to recognize their own firmware ZIP files as valid. And yes, I tried to apply the satellite firmware update first, and yes it was the latest, and yes the file was good, and yes I followed the steps in your release notes, and yes I tried multiple times

 Deadzones? Gone. Amazing quality and bandwidth? It brings it in spades. This thing just rocks. Stop suffering with crummy wifi routers and just do it, you'll be kicking yourself for not having done it sooner

The Orbi absolutely CRUSHES every router I've ever owned. Period. (But the firmware update process appears to be broken.)

 On the same level as the router, I was averaging 500-600Mbps on 5G bands and 20-40Mbps on 2G band. The wire connection averaged 700-800Mbps. On the lower level, I was 100-200 Mbps on 5G bands and 20-30Mbps on 2G band.  Why did I return it -Slower speeds on lower level

 I tried multiple set ups (large router, mesh router, wifi extenders/repeater, and powerline), but I ultimately ran a wire from the upper level to lower. The main reason for running a wire was that I was only getting a fraction (at the most 200-300Mbps on the download) of my 1gb speed on the lower level.  My current setup (update): 1. TP-Link Wifi 6 AX6000 (main router on upper level)

Excellent mesh wifi range and signal but average speeds.

 I work from home and do software development so I rely on my Internet being stable and my wife roams around the house using her devices all the time so I wanted something that would cover a large swath of area. The previous owners of our house had the cable routed into the living room and a really shoddy cable connection put in upstairs so the cable modem has always been downstairs in the living room. I have no CAT5/6 running through the house so the router has always been in that location as well. We have a 2000sq/ft colonial with a two car detached garage that is about 15 feet away from our house

 I work on my car in our detached garage and use a Chromebook out there for reference material and I'm able to get good signal. I installed a Ring wifi spotlight camera on the garage and there is no issue with it connecting and sending video. When I got Steamlink I found that my old wifi adapter wasn't up to the task of streaming from my PC to the device downstairs, so I bought the ASUS AC-68 dual band wifi adapter and that bumped up the throughput significantly to the point where I have no trouble with Steamlink at all and their documentation recommends a wired connection to the PC.  At one point a few years back I lamented the slowness and instability of wifi and definitely was leaning towards running CAT5/6 through the house, but with this product there is really no need anymore

  That said, I've never had to use Netgear support and like other people I do agree that them updating their firmware to push their security product when you open the admin panel is annoying.  Despite the problems, I've overall been very happy with the Orbi.
