Bill Callahan's "Drover," a track with far less deep bass in the mix, gives us a better sense of the BackBeat Go 410's general sound signature. The drums are almost thunderous in Bass mode, but less so in Bright. Callahan's baritone vocals get some low-mid richness and enough high-mid treble edge to keep them crisp. The higher register percussive hits and acoustic strums also receive enough high-frequency presence to shine, but this is definitely still a bass-weighted sound signature

Earphone users, most practical pair?

 At the high end you have products such as&nbsp;Bose's QuietControl 30 and Sony WI-1000X, both of which retail for $300 (£230 or AU$449). But now we're seeing more moderately priced noise-cancelling in-ears. The latest is Plantronics' $130 BackBeat Go 410, which delivers good performance for a lot less. International pricing isn't available yet, but it converts to about £100 or AU$180

 That's a big plus because one of the reasons people buy noise-cancelling headphones is to drown out plane noise when they're traveling. Over-the-ear noise-cancelling headphones come with a cord for in-flight use, but these types of in-ear neckband-style headphones typically don't.I liked the BackBeat Go 410 and it may be my favorite new headphone from Plantronics, which has released 5 new models ahead of the holiday buying season. It lists for $130, but hopefully we'll see it discounted a bit, making it an even better value

 Not only does the Plantronics  sound better but it cancels noise more effectively. It's not  quite up to the level of the Bose QuietControl 30's noise-canceling function, but  it does muffle sound around you to a degree (in other words, don't  expect it to totally muffle ambient sound). Like the Voyager 6200 UC, the headphone has plenty of bass -- it goes pretty deep and  will not disappoint bass lovers. There's a little bit of a presence  boost (treble push) to make things sound a little more sparkly and you can swap between bass and bright EQ settings to change the sound up a bit

             The buds adhere magnetically and go into hibernation mode to conserve battery life. Sarah Tew/CNETIt's a better headphone than Jabra's Elite 65e,  which I found disappointing. Not only does the Plantronics  sound better but it cancels noise more effectively. It's not  quite up to the level of the Bose QuietControl 30's noise-canceling function, but  it does muffle sound around you to a degree (in other words, don't  expect it to totally muffle ambient sound)

I looked in the product manual, and it does state this once you get most of the way through. However, why is this not mentioned in any reviews? This was disappointing to me, as i wanted a set of earbuds that could function with noise cancellation in both wireless in wireless applications. They advertise this as some type of feature, but why would I pay this much for earbuds that just act like a cheap set of plug in earbuds when in wired mode? Since I mostly use wired mode for most of my devices, I will be returning this product

Sound quality is very, very good, and battery life is excellent. Take a moment to download the app so you can adjust the amount of noise cancelling you would like, and manage your bluetooth connected devices

 I did find Comply Foam tips that would fit over the large aperture, and they work pretty well, but still not ideal. I'd like to see them include not only different sizes, but supply foam or a more sticky silicon tips as an option.  That said, once I got them to fit and stay in my ears the performance of the headphones is excellent. The noise cancelling is so effective that it almost silences my riding mower when I'm on it

Really nice headphones, but quirky fit

Constantly drop bluetooth from active calls, communication with phone become garbled with digital noise, if you switch to speaker or normal telephone, operation and voice quality of call itself is fine. Sound quality for persons on other end of calls is often unintelligible, I have to switch to speaker or wired headphones half the time. This is paired with Note 9. I used them for Conference calls probably 6+ hours a day

  The collar of the device was too short so that if It was outside of the collar of my shirt, it was liable to work itself off of my neck or move around my neck awkwardly.  If it was under the collar of my shirt, the cables connecting the collar to the ear buds were too short and pulled on my ears, and the control section of the cable would snag on my collar. Also, the control set is too simplistic.  They also had a bug that would crop up occasionally where it would repeat the power on message continuously until I plugged them into a power source

I recently bought the Bose 20 for myself and was very happy. My wife did not want to spend so much money, so I decided to try these based on the Wirecutter recommendation. When the headset showed up I tested the performance of the two by seeing how they cancelled out the hum of a noisy refrigerator. Does not cancel noise nearly as well as the Bose 20, but half the price

I otherwise love this product but the batterylevel announcement keep disconnecting my bluetooth calls. This happens when the announcement is Battery Highy or Medium and the battery level anouncement seems to happen way too frequently. Can I shut it off or is there  something else I am doing wrong? It happens with multiple phones and my ipad. The constant announcements and disconnect make it almost impossible to reliably use the headset for phonecalls
