 Everything is sounding really clear and clean from the few records I have played on it, and I can't wait to throw more on it. And you know what? At £150 for the turntable at the moment, that's a really decent affordable price for a decent turntable to get started, like I said in the beginning. So if you're looking to get into record players but you're kind of scared off by the high prices like I was, Project is supposed to be pretty much a decent brand for its record players, so that's where I wanted to start and see where I can go from here. So if you're into doing the same and going on the same journey, then maybe try something like this

 Getting the cardboard out of the way so we can next see the cover, which will keep the base unit dust free, always good. And now more cardboard out and we can finally get the turntable, which I'll pop out onto the desk now and start setting things up. I think it looks pretty sleek in its design with that smooth black finish, although I am going to be putting the dust cover on, which will get eventually covered up with stickers. But yeah, it looks nice

 It's apparently a good turntable for people who are just getting into vinyl or getting back into vinyl because it costs about £150. So it's kind of affordable for a decent turntable. Anyway, let's go and unbox this thing. OK, so classic sped up unboxing action here, as you can see

 What does it sound like? Well, as you know, this is an unboxing video, so I've only had a chance to play a few records on it so far. I have to say, though, compared to what I was using before, which was an old Newmark turntable, the sound quality is great. Everything is sounding really clear and clean from the few records I have played on it, and I can't wait to throw more on it. And you know what? At £150 for the turntable at the moment, that's a really decent affordable price for a decent turntable to get started, like I said in the beginning

Pro-Ject Primary E Turntable Unboxing & Review

The AT-LP120XUSB and Pro-Ject Primary E are available locally for me, and those are the ones i see as value buys for my price range. Price wise, these are about the same locally though i COULD import the Pro-Ject Primary E for cheaper. AT-LP120XUSB is 440 SGD. Pro-Ject Primary E is 420 SGD (import set 360 SGD)

This turntable sucks.

 I would much prefer a switch for speed control. Playing a record is very straightforward, place your vinyl on the platter, switch on the power and lift the tonearm. Then lower the tonearm wherever you want on the record and you're done. The Primary comes fitted with an Autophon OM5E, a good general purpose cartridge mounted to an aluminium tonearm

Tracking Force and Anti-Skate are preset so can't be altered, unlike some of Project's higher end models. Generally I like this turntable's sound, you should expect crystal clear highs and punchy mids, but you might notice lower frequencies being slightly less present

 What's more I found the Primary to be a very quiet turntable, with no discernible motor noise and no feedback from the speakers, which were on the same table, so impressive. Something worth noting though is that this is a completely manual turntable, there's no automatic return at the end of the record which means you'll need to get up off your seat once the music's finished. This took me a while to get used to, coming from an automatic deck. The Project Primary, distributed in the UK by Henley Designs, is available for £239 as shown, or £189 without the integrated phono preamp and USB output

 It's a stylish and well made turntable which gets all of the basics right, it's easy to use and reasonably priced, making it the perfect beginner's record player.

I'm trying to stay as close to $200 as I can for now, willing to upgrade parts later. Most important to me is that the sound quality is good and the parts are upgradable as I grow. I want a solid platform to build on. Here are the ones I'm looking at:

The Pro-Ject one has a really nice design and is also white, which would fit in very well with my apartment furnishing

I started with an entry level pro-ject, for example a Primary E , and would recommend one of those.

I was/am new at turntabling and the record player does absolutely everything I need it to. It sounds great, 0 complaints and would recommend it for a first timer.
