Pretty to look at but need to Upgrade

 That'S made entirely out of brass and also designed to be extremely low, friction component and the motor that drives. It is also entirely new from the pcb that controls it to the actual motor assembly itself. It is a 24 volt ultra low noise design. The plano 2 comes standard with rega's carbon cartridge and is an excellent entry level option, especially for something like that to come standard, and then my personal favorite feature about the planar 2 is its factory preset bias

This rb 220 tone arm is a patent by rega that is newly developed and that it uses really ultra low friction bearings in its base, but the base itself is also a new design meant to complement those bearings

 The plinth is just the simple little call out to this being the plane r2, not in your face just nicely letter. Moving up a little bit, let's have a look at the tone arm contrast, even with the black plinth, as this is a matte as opposed to a high gloss, and this is matte on all finishes, and i think that is a great balance and again like it. Does a little call out up here, you can see rb220 written on the arm's rest, they are sure to name all of their better products and then, if we move on to the bottom, you can see how the feet on this have been redesigned and they add Great stability, as well as the housing around the motor, which features integrated cooling that way you're never going to have any heat issues with your motor coming back up to the top. This is also available with an optional cover that can be purchased separately and generally

The Rega Planar 2 Product Review

 It sounds more focused and with this, you do get to carefully hear the intricacies of things just a tad better.

But that doesn't mean its resolution is beyond that of the Arya. I'd say they are comparable, but their presentations are different. This is most apparent in their treble presentations. In the case of the HE6SE v2, I find the overall treble very smoothed out, almost to an ideal state

Back in 2009, Hifiman released the original HE6 planar magnetic headphone. It was very well-received for its sound signature, but also required significantly more power to drive than the headphone amplifiers available at the time. Because of the HE6 and other planars at the time, headphone amplifier makers started to design amps that can handle significantly more current that was required to drive these types of headphones. Ironically, now we have many amps that have an abundance of headroom, and much more efficient to drive headphones these days

 This is most apparent in their treble presentations. In the case of the HE6SE v2, I find the overall treble very smoothed out, almost to an ideal state. It is a perfect balance of being exciting, but not fatiguing. It gives good extension and an airy nature, but doesn't come off as overly bright and does not have the sharpness that the Arya can provide at around 5

Terrific review! I've heard the original HE-6 at an audio meet, driven off a Jotunheim and it was great, though I didn't get enough time to really play with them. I'm happy with my HE-500, which I at least have the gear at home to drive it properly. One day I'd like to try the 6 again though.

Hifiman HE6SE V2 Adorama Special Review

First, let me say that this turntable plays great. My old vinyl came to life when I paired this up with a Musical Fidelity phono preamp. A stylus force scale makes for easier setup and a protractor is included for cartridge alignment (mine needed a tweek). My only complaint is with the so called low noise motor

Great sound but a little complaint

 If you can't do that, some phono stages and receivers or separate phono stages have what's called a subsonic filter. That allows you to reduce any chance of feedback by engaging that. Mum bought me a Teac TN-100 for Christmas 3 years ago and have been using a rubbish pair of computer speakers to listen to vinyl.

Discovered audiophile and did some research, decided to treat myself a bit!

Speakers are KEF Q550's
Amp is Audiolab 6000a
Turntable is a Rega Planar 2

Thankfully I don't have a neighbour on the other side of this wall and the speakers don't rumble the floor so hopefully my downstairs neighbours don't hear too much.. 

Hopefully when I get a house I'll have a room to turn into a listening space and purchase some upgrades but for now this is perfect.

 Tracking force adjustment is a bit tricky since the tonearm weight has no markings, but the manual indicates the right amount of weight that it applies when you spin the weight 1/2 and 1 full turn. I had a tracking force scale already so I was able to set my tracking force to 2g and it plays beautifully.  The Carbon MM cartridge sounds really good for someone who is upgrading from an older turntable a lower grade cartridge. I look forward to upgrading the cartridge to an Ortofon 2M Red in the future after my ears are tired of the Carbon MM

Happy but...

 If you kind of can add all those up because for me you know, isn't a destination, it's a journey, and so you know when it comes to these turntables. You know when we go from. If you start adding all these upgrades and differences up, they they become quite profound, so you know for it we'll use like a p1, for example, which, by the way, is also great sounding turntable, but these are just inching that closer to as perfection as you can Get right so wrap the bat. We got glass, platter, ten millimeters, the RB 20 tonne arm

 This is - and this is kind of what Regan is iconic for a little more known for surf they're, glass, platters, beautiful, really stylish, and you get that when you upgrade from the p1 or the p1 plus another huge difference right off the bat. That'S very noticeable is you're gon na get the RB 220 tonearm okay, this is gon na be handmade and it's a much different from the tonearm found on the p1 and the p1 plus you know, and so right off the bat. Those are the key differences. You know live for someone, that's kind of on the fence of, like I may be a p1 or a p1 plus there, but between the p2 so right off the bat right out of the box, you're gon na get the performance boost

 It'S amazing, we look, we don't. We don't have the the white belt upgrade on it. We have the carbon on it and we play this turntable for people and they love it, and it's just as Riga advertises its its performance right out of the box, which is really important to us, and it should be for you too. You know, I don't know about you, but when I, when I purchase something new especially, I want it to work right out of the box and sound great, and I can definitely say that that's what you're gon na get with the and you know another thing - is You'Re gon na get that iconic glass platter look now

 But when you get to the p2 level, you can actually get that in red as well. So just another little difference - and you know these aren't small guys. You know like these upgrades, you know, Riga, is very intentional with their design. This turn this tone arm
