 But the latter point is gonna be a reason for folks to spring for a Fitbit instead, because there's no way you're gonna wanna wear this to bed unless you get into the habit of charging it beforehand. Unlike Samsung's bigger wearables, this is a two-day device, and then only if you're frugal with things like GPS workouts. Maybe that's why it's harder to trigger the raise-to-wake gesture on this watch than others I've tested. Maybe Samsung's trying to clamp down on accidentally powering up that bright but doubtless energy-hungry watch face

 Initial setup is a breeze compared to Wear OS, and after you've moved in, using it is easy too. Swipe in from the top and right sides for settings and widgets, with notifications stacking up to the left as they come in from your phone. The haptic motor is strong enough that you're not likely to miss one of those alerts, and while there's no speaker, there is a microphone for voice commands through Bixby. You can start your day with a daily briefing, letting you plan your workouts, telling you what kind of weather to expect

 For me, I wish Samsung had somehow found a way to preserve that interface element, even if it just made the edges of the display touch sensitive. The loss of the ring is most sharply felt in timers, when scrolling messages, and in the app launcher, where launching an app is now a two-step process, one tap to see what it is, another tap to open it. It's a step backward, and I wish we didn't have to take it. If you can live with the touchscreen and two side buttons, you'll find much to like in Samsung's software though

Galaxy Watch Active Review: Trimming The Fat

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active a couple of years ago because my Pebble was showing its age and Rebble wasn't cutting it anymore. I just wanted something waterproof, lasts at least 2-3 days, easy to use, and gives me notifications. I'm probably easier to please when it comes to features than most people. It did the job just fine imo

 Plus Bixby will answer basic questions and compose texts/reminders. Versa is far better on fitness and sleep tracking, as well as stand up reminders (get up and move instead of the Active's 'get up and do torso twists,' which it then does not track and so keeps reminding you to do them!)  Wear OS on a decent size watch face (first gen Huawei) is still better than on replying to notifications on the Active, because your fingers don't accidentally smash the wrong 'button.' Lack of a loudspeaker on the Active is annoying, but I understand they did it to save space and weight, so I can live with that. Will probably return this

really??? This seems pretty basic to me, as I have weather on several of the Huawei faces that I use and none of them have this problem.  Apps: Fewer than Wear OS, but I don't load up my watches with a lot of apps, anyhow. This pretty much has what I need on it already. I don't like the 'circle' of apps without the rotating bezel--it's very hard to navigate thru each app--you have to tap twice on the app you want to open, and the screen is so small that it's hard to not hit the wrong app, especially if you are on the move and using this

 No, you can't charge it on the regular Samsung wireless charging pad--you need the new duo pad.  Steps: Undercounts steps--I don't expect perfection, but wow, the Active undercounted by about 2000 steps, per both my Versa and Huawei. Undercounted calories, too, as a result. I'm very active and need at least a halfway reasonable estimation of calories burned

Underwhelming

 Easy to do that from the phone. Obviously you can just go and, you know, download all the songs, all the photos you want from your phone in the, in the wear app to your watch. So it's really easy to do. That's convenient

 So it's clearly, you know, a much better watch if you're trying to, you know, travel light. If you have a small wrist, like I said before, or if you just want something that's not heavy on your wrist, this is a great watch for that. And still the second word there, smartwatch, it's still a very smart watch, has a very capable processor. And I think people are still trying to figure out how to make apps and make money off of them because you can't really put ads on them that well, um, you know, because it's such a tiny screen and so a lot of apps end up being paid apps anyway

 If you have a large wrist, you can use this one. Also in the box, of course, you have a charger. So this uses wireless charging and this is actually really nice because you can charge it on the back of a Galaxy phone, for example. So anything, any phone that has a reverse wireless charging, you can charge this watch on there

 So this watch still has plenty of very advanced features including advanced auto fitness tracking, heart rate, sleep tracking, and a slim lightweight water resistant design. After wearing this device daily for several weeks now and testing the limits of this watch, I decided it was time for a proper review. With the release of the Galaxy Watch Active Two coming soon, this watch is likely to see a drop in price, but is it still worth it? Does this watch live up to its bold claims? I think it depends if you have an iPhone or Android based phone. I had a galaxy watch and it was superb when paired to Android phone. As soon as I switched to iPhone, a lot of the functionality was lost because Apple health didn’t recognize the watch data well (if at all, can’t remember).

Series 7 should be released this month. I would wait and see what’s new. I think Apple Watch is the way to go. It’s seamless experience and it’s amazing hardware.

The new Galaxy Watch with Android OS is sure a great watch. But I guess you have an iPhone. Then you should get an Apple Watch. Android Wear is limited on iOS.

I absolutely love everything about the apple watch. But, these days when I talk about it with my friends they ask me to buy a samsung watch since Apple watch is overrated. I still feel that the Apple Watch is way cooler. Am I wrong?

Its my dream to get an Apple Watch

5 days (see picture). This is significantly lower compared to the Gear Fit, which lasted about 3 days even after owning it for almost 2 years. This is the only reason I didn't give the watch 5 stars. Short battery life can be attributed to the higher functionality though; out of the box, it automatically tracks heart rate, exercise, weather, and other info continuously

 I changed my watch face to the one pictured so I can see all my stats at a glance. Super handy!  Functionality! I have never owned any other Galaxy watch besides the Gear, so I am generally impressed and satisfied - everything I need is there; time, steps, heart rate, exercise tracking, weather, messaging, music..

 This is the only reason I didn't give the watch 5 stars. Short battery life can be attributed to the higher functionality though; out of the box, it automatically tracks heart rate, exercise, weather, and other info continuously. I'm note sure yet if there's a way to disable that. I have to time the watch life just right if I want to be able to wear it throughout the day, during exercise, and at night to track my sleep

 It comes with a magnetic charging base, just take your watch off and plop it on for a fast 1-2 hour charge!  ::CONS:: Battery life. When fully charged, the watch will last approximately 1.5 days (see picture). This is significantly lower compared to the Gear Fit, which lasted about 3 days even after owning it for almost 2 years

 Now that you mention it, this non-stop onslaught of fresh new Samsung gear has definitely got me coming over all funny. There's also dedicated auto tracking for six different exercises, complete with real-time stats on demand and a handy summary when all that pain stuff is over. Don't worry if you do some weird personal workout either, because the watch active supports manual tracking too. And yes, there is the obligatory sleep tracking as well, which can recognise and record four different stages of slumber

 Instead, this smartwatch uses Samsung's own store, which, to be fair, still has a fair number of decent looking apps and over 60,000 watch faces to choose between, to add to the colourful and customisable selection already slapped there on the watch. You can call up the Galaxy Watch Active's app menu at any point with a push on this bottom button, and cycle through them all by flicking your finger. There's sadly no foggy twisty dial action, but those touch controls work a charm once more. Another push of that button takes you right back to the main watch face, while there's also a very handy back button up top

 And of course there is a heart rate sensor as well, which can provide continuous or frequent monitoring if so desired. And apparently it'll let you know if you're feeling a wee bit stressed as well. Now there's evidence for Samsung developing a WearOS watch

I loooove my watch! I bought it to replace the fossil active watch that I have bc the face stopped working. This Samsung is way better. It tracks my sleep more accurately, it tracks my exercise and give suggestions on how to step on my activity level and even alerts me to signs of stress and suggests taking a breather break. I charge it once every 2 days and can change the face icon as often as I want

Love it.

 So, today we are reviewing the Galaxy Watch Active, Samsung's inexpensive smartwatch to try to really compete with the more fitness trackers and cheaper form smartwatches on the market. Now, first and foremost, I want to start off this review by getting to the things you guys have been asking me most, and that is two big things. One, no, it does not have a speaker. So that's a big question that a lot of people ask, so I wanted to answer that first

 But this is nice because you have all your quick commands accessible to you. But that is going to be the biggest difference between the One UI. So yes, the Galaxy Watch will most likely get it, but it could be a month or two or so before it does. The other thing I would say is this watch is really about having the smallest smart watch to date

 It does not have a speaker of its own. And three, Bixby does not talk back to you, it only displays the answers. If you ask it the weather or anything like that, it will show you your schedule, weather, anything on the screen, but it will not speak back to you. So that is a big missing feature that the other Galaxy Watches do have

 However, is it the best battery life? No. Is it the most versatility in terms of being able to answer your phone calls? No. So you have to kind of figure out what you want. I think the fitness tracking is really good, maybe not on the level of a Fitbit, but still really good
