My only negative is, that the Timbre is also a little "silvery", otherwise, this headphone checks all the boxes. Decent stage, good imaging, great resolution, GREAT tuning. With most headphones I feel like only part of the music is in focus, with the clear every little detail is where it is supposed to be. The bass is engaging and has a great slam.

The Sennheiser HD 598 are comfortable open-back headphones with good studio quality sound. They're well built and feel durable but offer no control options for your audio. The open back design also leaks a lot of sound and doesn't block any ambient noise. They're not designed for commuting and may disturb people around you.

Headphones: Sennheiser HD 598 (getting a dac/amp foundation in preparation for 6xx/sundara comparison). Fulla. You can hear how tinny it is compared to anything else. It's just not a good experience... Really only recommend to people who will never dive into the audiophile world, but can tell their current system is insufficient and introducing a lot of issues.

To put it simply: TR-Amp brings the life out of the HD 598. While the total cost of the HD 598 and EarMen TR-Amp adds up to around 500 USD, I personally think it's worth it. It's really important that you invest into a quality source, because it can be equally important as the headphones themselves

From the top left Sennheiser hd 598 cs, DT 990, DT1770 pro, Sivga SV007, Sony WH1000XM3, Shp9500, SONY MDR1AM2 and the HD 660s. It all started with the HD598CS. I just wanted something that sounded better than the cheap headphones that I was used to.
