Not Impressed

 So now I'll have to send this vacuum back to Amazon- and although I love the amazing suction it has- it isn't worth the hassle to buy another one. I am pretty disappointed because I had so many people tell me that Shark was better than Dyson.. =/ I guess I'll have to figure that one out for myself!

SO Frustrating, but great suction....

 The suction is great when vacuuming the floor and carpets. HOWEVER, my biggest pet peeve about this vacuum is the suction is so strong that when using the wand for dusting or upholstery vacuuming, it causes the hose to to shrink and contract. When you release the wand while the vacuum is off, the hose is at normal length. As soon as you turn the vacuum on, the hose shrinks in length

Suction is TOO STRONG for upholstery or above floor cleaning

 I found nothing fussy about the Shark. In the end, I didn't have to compromise. I usually vacuum the carpet twice with a new vacuum, once with the new one, and then once with the old one. While not all that scientific, I know that if the old one picks up lots of stuff, they new ones not up to snuff

 Where the Dyson was fussy, the Shark is effortless. The hose detaches from the stem, and re-attaches easily as does the stem from the body, and the lift away, and the canister. I found nothing fussy about the Shark. In the end, I didn't have to compromise

 I haven't had to clean the Sharks brush roll at all. Bottom line for me though is how dead simple it is to empty the canister. a flip of an easily accessible button with the canister pointed in the trash can and its empty. There is a top latch to empty any large items that don't make it into the canister, and it is as easy to empty as it is to avoid contact with dust

A good replacement for my Dyson

Great product; Poor customer service

  This thing has great suction. I had just vacuumed the day before I got it, then vacuumed again when I got this new one. It picked up so much dust (and dog hair) out of the carpet I was shocked.  It is definitely heavier and a little more bulky than my previous vacuum, but it is just a matter of getting used to it

  The lift a canister is heavy when holding it (detached from the vacuum). I had gone around the house sucking cobwebs out of corners and near the ceiling so there was a lot of moving around - this thing will give you a work out. My other Shark came with a base with wheels that you could set the canister on and it would roll behind you - wish this one had that option.  Someone in another review mention that the cord holder thing that keeps the cord up off the ground while you vacuum didn't work well - that's true

Great Vacuum

 This only comes with 2 of these basics; the crevice and wide non brush (shark calls this an Upholstery Tool). It also comes with a Pet Power Brush but that is not one of the needed basics. This vacuum is heavier at 16 lbs (some sources cite 17 lbs) than it’s other (to me) comparable shark models, the UV850, UV700, and LA520. Vacuum wars has a review on the LA520 which is just like the UV850

 The replacement vacuum I received did not have the squeaking issue. Also this cost $250 during amazon prime day so check out the website slickdeals to see sales on any item. __________________________________________________________________________________________  I just got this vacuum less than a week ago and it has already developed a loud squeal when pulling backwards during a normal vacuum stroke (straight forward and backwards) or when lifting the vacuum in it’s locked position. I just exchanged it for a replacement, hopefully the replacement does not do this

 It is actually the upholstery attachment, with a brush that clips to the end of it. The way the brush clips on lets a ton of air leak around it, so the suction is terrible with this thing (pics included).  The vacuum also doesn't have anywhere to store this attachment on it, so I have to store it in the closet on a shelf and then carry it around with me if I'm using it. I'm really confused on why they went this direction in the design, because it doesn't work well at all

 (I work in the shipping industry so this was no surprise, and honestly 2 weeks was faster than what I expected anyway.) I am extremely impressed with the customer service, and this experience will likely drive me to buy another Shark vacuum when it comes time to replace this one.  The only reason why I'm not giving this 5 stars is because the standard handheld brush attachment (not the motorized one) has pretty poor suction. This isn't because of the vacuum, but because of the way the brush attachment was designed

Almost perfect, and outstanding customer service from Shark

 My biggest single complaint is that the size of the boxy canister means that you cannot get the vacuum under anything like a chair or a stool without lifting the canister off. Then you can get the floor attachment and wand under things quite well with good reach. But, it feels awkward lifting that thing off so frequently because we have many chairs and things that need vacuuming under.  Update: in less than a month the brush roller stopped working

 I called Shark support and demonstrated the issue with the brush roller light green, but no roller movement. The floor suction unit was defective and I was informed that this was not covered by warranty, so I would have to buy a replacement part. Obviously, this made me unhappy and I said so, and so they offered me the part at half price which still doesn't make me happy.  If I had kept the box I might well have returned it to Amazon

Powerful, but unwieldy and bad warranty

  WOW suction! Yes, it WANTS to go forward and you have to wrangle pull it back, but I'll take it! It pulled up the somewhat matted carpet and actually had vacuum marks! We vacuumed with the Dyson 3 days ago. Doing just the small living room packed the canister full (oops on that max fill line). The roller was mostly hair clean! That was, until, it met the teen kiddos room. Her long hair was wrapped all around that roller
