 The brush roll is the main floor. There’s a rubber tube in the back that broke after only about a year of use, and shark won’t replace just that piece so you have to pay to replace the entire brush roller head which is over $100. We manage to take it apart and tape it up, but now after another year I realized it wasn’t doing a great job on carpet, so I flipped it over and realize that the brush roll has no bristles left. none, they’re completely broken off

Major flaws in design and longevity

This vacuum has good suction, but I don't like much else about it. I think it is cumbersome to maneuver. And perhaps the worst thing is that it leaves teal/blue streaks along all my baseboards. We have touched-up the baseboards twice since we got the vacuum, and have tried to be very careful along the walls, but it doesn't seem to help

The suction on this is great, but we immediately had a problem with the liftaway button. It is misaligned so that in order to activate you have to really muscle it down on one side, and then it can still jam up. It is a defective unit, in our opinion. Return is a real annoyance

It's not as good as advertised

 That is all of the accessories I received. (When unpacking, take a good look at the brown cardboard holders, the little dusting brush was missed the first time.)  Using it on the LR carpet and the dining room/kitchen hardwood floors, it does a great job on the carpet, and a good job on the hardwood floors.   Short review, and I'll come back and add more to it as I use the vacuum more. I'll especially update it after spring hits and the Malamutes start blowing their inner coat by the handfuls.   There was some residual fur caught in the roller brushes, but easy to remove. This did not surprise me since I find that normal since fur will get tied up in the brushes regardless of the suction. Have a friend with a big Dyson and also a multiple Malamute owner, and her Dyson also gets fur caught in the brushes.  Did I say easy to put together, easy to switch to the lift-away mode, and I find it very quiet when compared to my Eureka

UPDATE: June 2018. More I used it the more I like it. The electric power brush that adds onto the end for cleaning chairs, etc., is FANTASTIC

 I would have given this 5 stars if it did not have such difficulty picking up sand and dog hair on the bare floor setting.

PROS: It is a swiss army knife of vacuums. All the controls are at your finger tips. I can easily lift out the handle for upholstery, the wand for stairs and crevices, or the whole bin and run the main brush head under furniture or put it on the wheeled stand to turn it into a canister vac. There is power to the brush on one of the wand attachments - huge plus for pet hair on upholstery

SWISS ARMY KNIFE OF VACUUMS - Only 1 drawback . . .

 It is frustrating sometimes that, because of the heaviness of the hose (which I assume is because power has to run through the hose for this design), you don't have to pull far before you pull the vacuum over. This is doing nothing to help my dog's fear of the vacuum.  My house is entirely hard floor (wood and tile) with some rugs, and I have a big heavily shedding dog who tracks in a lot of dirt. I think because of the dog, the filters have needed more cleaning than I expected to maintain performance

 This vacuum is clearly designed for righties. After using it the first time, struggling with the cord and taking the canister off/putting it back on, I realized that was because it is designed for someone who holds the cord in the left hand while vacuuming with the right, and who takes the canister off/on to the right. My previous vacuum doesn't have this issue, so I never thought about it. I'm adjusting, but it requires fighting my lefty instincts or wrestling a bit with the vacuum

 Performance is excellent on rugs, but without the hard floor attachment, is not great on hard surfaces. This is a drawback for me, as it would be nice to vacuum a whole room without having to switch between the regular head and the hard floor attachment. I prefer my little cordless Dyson for hard floors, but the drawback of that is the very small canister.  One thing I never thought of when buying a vacuum is handedness -- I'm a lefty

If only it came in a left-handed version...

 I suppose a well-muscled person would find it easier, but I find it awkward and tiring. The balance and weight distribution of the handle and hose needs re-engineering..

that said, the vacuum cleans well on our mix of flooring...carpeted stairs (slow walk up dragging canister and balancing it on a stair) and carpeted bedrooms, and on porcelain wood-look tiles

Purchased August 2016, studied instructions,, tried it on the caddy to operate like a canister and tried it with the canister attached to the handle like a standard upright vacuum. Conclusion is that the carpet cleaning functions are wonderful, but the upright mode is very heavy to steer around on low and medium pile carpet. The Caddy sounds like a neat option, but the short 'expandable' hose makes it chase me and often hit back of my legs. That hose is way too short and barely long enough to make the Shark function as a handheld floor cleaner
