 And that's where this lens really shines. Specifically we went into Disneyland, into the Pirates of the Caribbean, and there's a really, really dark spot there right at the beginning that we were able to shoot with the GoPro and you can hardly even make anything out with the GoPro. It's just super, super fuzzy, dark, can't see anything. And surprisingly with this Sigma lens and the Nikon camera, I was able to make it out

 I mean, you could spend $1500-$2000 on a lens easy. So I've been trying to find a little bit lower cost alternative, and I stumbled on this Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 that has the optical stabilization in it, and I thought, OK, well that's going to work for my video, it's going to work for shooting portraits, it's a pretty good all around lens. The question is, am I going to be disappointed in buying this lens for, I think I picked it up for $380 on sale, or should have I saved up and spent the money for one of these $1000 plus lenses? Am I going to get enough difference that I'm looking for versus the kit lens versus this Sigma lens here? Over the next couple months, I'm going to be taking this lens with me everywhere

 And I feel like both lenses perform pretty well there, but the biggest difference is, is definitely in the low light, the Sigma is able to get a clearer, cleaner picture. Okay, so here you have a close-up shot using the Nikon and the Sigma lens. Now in both shots, I focused in on the G here, so you can see the main focus point was both right on the G. And if you look at those two areas, I think it's a little bit sharper on the Sigma versus the Nikon, but overall pretty close

Best lens that fits EOS Rebel T6 body for night street/night skyline photos within a city/urban area? (Price &lt;= $500)

  This lens’s weight and dimensions make it only look a bit larger and a bit heavier than the Tamron 17-50mm on paper, but the reality is it feels much bulkier and heavier. This is especially true on lighter DSLRs like the D5600. The focus ring turns as it autofocuses and is coupled to the focus mechanism so if you touch it by accident during auto-focus (which is very easy to do given it’s placement and proportions), the lens produces a high pitched whining sound. I’d imagine that if you held the focus ring from moving during auto-focus for more than a moment it could do some damage

)  The extra weight, bulk, breakable feeling of the focus ring mechanism as AF works, modest gains from optical stabilization, and slight back-focusing issue altogether make me wish I hadn’t bought this lens and had gotten another Tamron 17-50 f2.8 which I know to deliver beautiful images and a slightly more comfortable weight and size. I'm not enthused to go out shooting with this lens so I will probably get rid of it soon and get something else.

OK images, but a host of issues

 I believe zoom creep is not really a problem for this lens even if I shake The body and lens like so the lens has not creeped a little bit So you probably won't ever use the zoom lock But it's there just in case and in case you're wondering this lens has seven aperture blades now this lens has no weather sealing Despite it being quite solidly built however the zoom ring does feel very nice and smooth and solid I would expect this to last for quite a while however the focusing ring on the other hand it just feels a little bit too Loose it feels very loose in fact and there's almost no dampening to it So I don't really like the feel of the focusing ring when you're doing minor focus however the zoom ring does feel very nice Now all the focusing all the focusing on this lens is driven by a HSM Hypersonic motor so all the focusing with this lens is quite fast and responsive It's not blazing fast, but it's decent and in terms of AF noise It's not completely silenced, but I wouldn't say it's noisy as well It's definitely a little noisier than the other ultrasonic motor lenses. I've used however It's not as intrusive as a micromotor, so I'm going to hold the lens up to the microphone so you can hear the auto-focusing noise This is the noise it makes when it's auto-focusing It's not completely silenced, but it's not that audible as well So it shouldn't be loud enough to cause an issue Now one more nice thing about this lens is the auto-focusing action is completely internal So the front element does not move at all when you are auto-focusing so that's really nice However one thing about the AF system on this lens is that the focusing ring does rotate along with the auto-focusing motor so Unfortunately this also means no full-time minor focusing and one more issue that this brings up is When you hold the camera like so your thumb and forefinger are directly on the focusing ring So more often than not you will find yourself wrestling the AF motor because you are gripping the focus ring in place So this is probably something Sigma overlooks when they were designing this lens and I can admit this is very annoying when I'm shooting with This lens because I'm always gripping onto the focusing ring So this is going to be something owners of this lens have to get used to and one more thing about this Is that the manual focus throw on this lens is really really short. In fact, it's only around 45 degrees So if you're using this lens for video or just minor focusing fine-tuning your focus can be a little difficult Now this lens also has OS optical stabilizer However, I will say this is one of the less effective optical image stabilizers I've used I've definitely used lenses with much better image stabilizers However, OS it's there on this lens and it will still help to some extent and one more thing about the lens I think it's because of the OS as well when you shake the lens around it does make a rattling noise So I'm going to hold this up to the microphone The lens does make that rattling noise when you shake it around it can get a little annoying and sometimes a little worrying But just so you know, this lens does tend to make that sound when you shake it around now using the lens itself It's actually great for daily use. It's a great general-purpose lens

 Hello everybody and today we're going to take a look at the Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 lens Alright hello everybody so today We have the Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 lens here today now This lens is arguably one of the best value for money lenses out there so today We're going to take a look for ourselves so this lens comes in at four hundred and sixty dollars at B&H So this is a relatively affordable lens however this lens does have quite a bit to offer now for one this lens does have a constant f2.8 aperture which is generally not found in lenses within this price range So it's definitely something really nice to have now this lens is designed for crop sensor cameras now I have the Canon version right here But however if I unmount it you will notice that this lens actually mounts to the full-frame EF mounting index So we actually have to align it to the red dot so technically you can actually mount this lens onto a full-frame body and take Pictures with it however on the full-frame body you would get some serious vignetting with this lens It's not really usable on a full-frame body this lens is designed for crop sensor bodies now This lens actually feels very very solid it has quite a bit of weight for a lens of this size It's heavier than you would expect so as you may have noticed just now it has a metal mount on the back So that's going to be way more durable than the plastic mounts And we do get rubber grips for both the zoom ring and also the focus ring now There is a zoom lock feature however the zoom lock feature is only usable at 17 millimeters however I don't really see the need for a zoom lock because this lens does not suffer from zoom creep now the barrel does extend a Little bit when you zoom however

 The zoom range is extremely convenient from 17 to 50 millimeters It's a very useful range for daily shooting and image quality is also quite decent on this lens Now this lens is sharp in the center. However wide open at f2.8 You will get some soft edges and also there's a little bit of vignetting wide open However, as you stop down to f5.6, the vignetting is completely gone and the edges are also much sharper So what's my final say on this lens? This is actually a pretty good lens

Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM Hands-on Review

This is a great 3rd party lens for APS-C sensor cameras with sharp optics and a constant f 2.8 aperture for all focal lengths. AS others have reviewed, there is a bit of fall off in the edges 18mm at f 2.8, but for most, this is not a huge problem and it remains far better than the kit lens it typically replaces

 It is heavy with the large (77mm filter thread) front element and stout construction. The optical stabilizer offers realistically 2-2.5 extra stops which just adds to the versatility over my 50 1.8 and 35 1

Optically great lens with one quirk with Nikon D 5500.

 So it does get like, do you sacrifice things like compactability versus, you know, image quality or video quality and having a constant aperture? But overall, do I still recommend this lens? Believe it or not, after all my gripes about it, yes, I still do recommend this lens. I would say it's definitely a huge upgrade to have something like a constant aperture and not have to like worry about, oh, you're going to lose all of your light because it's not a varying aperture like this one. Overall autofocus, there isn't for, if you use a Nikon, the thing is with any 5000-3000 model, there isn't a built-in autofocus motor within the body, meaning the motor itself is in the camera. And if you're using a D5000, 52, 55, 5600, most Nikons have a horrible, horrible autofocus

I’ve only got one extra lens with this camera that I plan on keeping (Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6), so I’m looking to buy another lens as well. I mainly do portraits as a hobby, but I’ve been wanting to explore astrophotography as well. Anyone have any lenses they recommend? I don’t know a whole lot about lenses in general but I’m trying to learn. (Thinking about a 50mm f/1.8 or 35mm f/1.8, but open to other suggestions! Thanks!)

Recommended D7500 lenses?

Brighter and sharper than Canon stock len 18-55mm STM. it is much much heavier than Canon one and appears much better build than Canon. Canon one is too plastic and appear cheaply made.  I did a comparison shoots with Canon stock len 18-55mm STM and its Ef-s 24mm f2
