 The results are on your screen. Now the sony xba-40 one offers bluetooth 4.0, which is perfectly fine for most average users testing this. With my samsung s a+, i was able to get a range up 84 Lior feet with two walls in between my phone and the speaker before the audio started to crackle

 Alright! Folks! Here we go alright folks make sure you got your headphones or earphones on here goes test number one, and these are with mine by newer microphones. Xba-40 one is fitting for small dorm rooms to mid-size apartment at 50 % volume

 It was comfortable and still loud enough to be enjoyable, pushing it up to 70 % and higher. This will surely fill large areas if your price limit is 200 to 250 dollars. The XP for the one is your best choice right now: beating the competition in regards to price, to volume, and especially portability. Now, if you're needing something for outdoor use or a super big room or event getting to Sony, XP 31 s for the same price and pairing them or it be bigger, but older, now, XP 60 for the price of 250 is the way to go

 First, this thing looks and feels amazing now with complete mesh all around the entire speaker, similar to the JBL extreme 2 or UE mega boom. If it was more rugged but retains a very clean look now keep in mind, the auto drivers are still forward-facing and provides directional front-facing audio, to clarify, there's no speakers on the side or on its rear, so you're not getting the full 360 degree. Audio experience. The biggest improvement and was lacking on the last model, the XP 41, like its competitors, are now ip67 certified

Sony Xb41 Xtra Bass Speaker - REVIEW

 Some people have complained of hearing the music sound distorted or low quality, but if you have high quality music files & turn on LDAC codec you should not hear any weird imperfections, I did notice the music sounds weird at very high volumes if you are very close, but If I take some distance it balances itself and sounds really good, it sounds good but not as crisp as the JBL xtreme, but almost the same and at a smaller size. I use it at the office at low volumes and sounds really good, really HD. I think this is a great speaker for a small to medium size room, but you need more power for anything bigger if you want some decent bass, for a portable speaker this is really on the edge, probably the best sound for the price. The JBL Xtreme sounds better for me, but it’s bigger and more expensive & also has exposed passive woofers which complicate traveling and can be damaged if anything touches it while it’s playing music

 Now the real issue that I have right now is that the second speaker also has defects, as you can see in the pictures the party lights seem to have imperfections on the inside of the crystal and show as weird artifacts on certain angles. This is a huge problem because well I was expecting a new unit, with zero defects and now this comes in. So take this into consideration, apparently this model in particular has some quality issues, received two speakers and both had some issues, I’m still thinking if I return or not the second unit because it actually sounds very good. The movies sound really good with this speaker and most music sounds great, so it really is a hard decision whether to return the speaker for the second time because of some imperfections with the lights

 the SONYXB41 practically sounds as loud and almost has the same quality sound so to me the Sony speaker is simply a winner here, more features and at a lower price.

Sony SRS-XB41 Extra Bass Speaker Review

 By and large it works, but like most technology, it has a few bugs that need to get worked out.

 And it's not replicable as a problem, either. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes my phone does but my wife's doesn't, and vice versa. We don't have an abundance of bluetooth peripherals in the house and it isn't near any appliances that should be interfering, yet the problem persists

 That'd be fine on a speaker half its size & billed as a portable solution, but this thing has heft to it & given the design, I was expecting it to have a considerably larger battery than it actually comes with.  Also, though I've never had many issues with other bluetooth peripherals, this one has a nasty habit of cutting out nearly constantly if you're doing literally ANYTHING else on your phone. And it's not replicable as a problem, either. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't

All you have to do is tap your phone to the NFC logo and a notification will pop up to connect. As far as range goes, I haven't had any issues with dropouts or stuttering, anywhere within 50 feet easy

 So next to the power and bluetooth pairing button is a new button called live which is supposed to make your music sound, like you're at a live concert. Unfortunately, all it does is make your music sound terrible, so I'd recommend never pressing that button I'd. Rather, they just put the extra bass button back back wise, it's rock and Bluetooth 4.2, and has a AC and Eldad compatibility as well as NFC for quick pairing with a compatible device

 I, like the XP 41 and I'm sure you will too, if you don't mind, dropping around 250 bucks for a Bluetooth. Speaker, like I said the use case for this is parties. If you're, looking for a speaker to bring with you to the beach you'll, probably be better off with something like a JBL, flip 4 or a ue wonder boom, but the lights, the sound signature and the near indestructible build make this perfect for basically every college party. I'Ve ever gone to you and more than a few backyard barbecues

Unbiased Review:  Sounds fantastic, has many gimmicks.

Sony has a great reputation for producing high-quality audio products. I thought I was making a good choice then when I bought this speaker as an upgrade from a smaller bluetooth speaker to use when not using my full stereo. I wanted a speaker that would reproduce music, not alter it. With this Sony speaker though, there is just too much bass

  There are other speakers in this segment/price range with much more accurate sound reproduction, which add tweeters, larger subwoofers and a more balanced sound. Sony severely missed the mark on this one which makes me sad, because I really wanted to like this speaker.

 This is compounded by the fact that the speaker has no tweeters. In essence, this is constructed the same way as a much smaller bluetooth speaker, but with bigger drivers, no tweeters, and a much larger battery.  Sony has attempted to make this a 'party' speaker, with things such as music-reactive LED lighting and the Fiestable App, which allows you to physically tap on the speaker and add cymbal, snare or bass drum hits into the music you are playing. These features might be fun to play with, but they do not make up for subpar sound quality or really add anything to the music listening experience
