 It potentially isn't going to be quite as rugged because the softer material but But only time will tell and i'll certainly be spending a lot more time with this because it is so good I do want to test its longevity so that I can potentially even recommend it in one of my top gadgets this year Because it has been that good so We'll come back to that one But as I said Which one do I prefer? And this has been A real pain in the bottom for me. I have literally been tearing what little hair i've got left on my head out Trying to work out which one I prefer and the thing is I don't know. I really like them both. I think this has a certain character that absolutely appeals to me But with the volume and clarity that this thing can drive It has some amazing positives over the standard I just find them both very competent speakers very good price points and generally Some of my favorite portable speakers that i've ever tested and I just do not know which one I prefer And I think it goes down to that if I was to help you make a choice if you were looking at both of these Whether to get the standard or the pro

 It's tiny But this thing is loud thing is without a doubt This is a very different sound to the standard stormbox Which I feel applies a very heavy character to the sound coming out of it Which is very appealing to my own ears But as i've said sound is massively subjective and I think that overall clarity and even sound that comes out of this will actually appeal to a lot more people than what comes out of the standard version and the thing is This is only 120 pounds at the time of this review and actually at the time of this review when I check the price There's even a 30 pound voucher that you can apply to this which makes it 90 pounds For 90 quid or even 120 quid the level of clarity that comes out of this is Is unbelievable and I believe that it's an absolute Bargain, however, I do have just one small criticism On the pro over the standard it has been something i've mentioned already in my initial impression And something that we kind of talked about in the hot tub and that is the material they've used on the outside There is definitely a difference They're very similar But this is a bit softer and it doesn't feel quite as tightly wound around the body as the standard version Now this has two implications The first is that when it's certainly very wet It does rasp a little for the first 10 seconds while it gets rid of some of that water weight Not a problem unless you're dunking it deep in water, but it's definitely something that needs to be considered But secondly It could mean that being a slightly softer material it could damage easier Now I don't have any example of this because I haven't used this that extensively And as you can see there's very little damage done to this and i've taken this everywhere including the seat So that's quite phenomenal. Will this hold up over time as well as this is done? I don't know if I was going to make an assumption. I think if you prefer a more Even sound across the board that can go a lot louder and hold its clarity At really loud volumes then the pro is the way to go if you're just on your own And you want to listen to a bit of music on the go then the standard possibly is the way to go there But as for the Stormbox Pro I absolutely love it.  Don't mind how good your speakers are Stop it, right Here we go. Now my initial impression of this Was that I liked it. So this is the best I can do Well, it's a little bit different than it was last time But it does appear to still be working fine I will say the softer material seems to have a little bit more of a rattle when it gets really wet A bit of a shake see what happens That's better now that it's not sodden And I mean it's quite impressive that we're at a point where I can literally sit in a hot tub with a speaker Yeah Right, I think i'm going to chill out for a bit now and have a listen to this a little bit more I think that's quite cool the effect on that I'm gonna have a chill out have a listen to this a little bit more We'll see if it survives having gone in the hot tub So Well, that's enough of showing you what my only fans usually pay for now Let's run through some specs while I get changed and formulate my final thoughts on the tri-bit stormbox pro Firstly its ip67 rating is what makes it able to survive in my hot tub up to a meter deep for half an hour Although it can I wouldn't advise taking it for a dip in the hot tub with you I've done that so that you don't have to but it'll certainly survive getting wet It's got all of the modern expectations I have for a portable speaker bluetooth 5 24 hours of playback and the ever wonderful USB-C in terms of its sound it features a rather large three inch subwoofer Two 40 mil speakers and two passive radiators for an extremely competent and even sound and although I haven't tested this particular Feature it can be paired up to a second stormbox pro for stereo sound So now i'm back in the studio and i've been listening to this for the past few days i've changed my mind Considerably about it Having had the opportunity to listen to a variety of different sounds I've begun to appreciate the clarity that this thing can give off and at extremely loud volumes for such a small Form factor. Best BT portable speaker below 50$?

Tribit has built up a strong reputation in the past few years by delivering some of the better-sounding affordable Bluetooth headphones and portable speakers in recent memory. A good case in point is the StormBox Micro, a budget take on Bose's excellent SoundLink Micro speaker. It's one of the best-sounding pocket-size speakers I've heard and retails for $40. Now, with its new StormBox Pro ($120), Tribit is taking aim at Bose's SoundLink Revolve Plus ($250)

I should note that Gizmodo reported that the speaker made a "popping sound" when its volume was cranked to the max. I did not experience that in my tests, but I would recommend only taking the volume up to around 85% because smaller speakers like this -- even though they can play loud -- tend to distort a bit at their max volumes. Also, your battery life will drop if you crank the volume.

While the StormBox Micro actually sounds pretty close to the Bose SoundLink Micro, I can't say that the Stormbox Pro sounds as good as the Bose SoundlLink Revolve Plus, which is due for an upgrade this year. The Bose just sounds a little fuller with a bit more detail and bass definition and better overall tonal balance. The Bose also has a swankier design although the StormBox Pro is fully waterproof and dustproof with an IPX67 rating and seems pretty sturdy. Its battery life is also very good (it's rated at 24 hours at 50% volume)

 Why you'd ever turn it off, I don't know. But that's usually the case with speakers that have a bass-boost button -- they simply don't sound as good sans bass boost, so I'm not sure what the point of the button is except to market the speaker as having an extra bass mode.

Get $40 off Tribit's new Bose-like StormBox Pro Bluetooth speaker

 First of all, linking to a smartphone, that's quite easy, scan for Bluetooth devices, done. If your phone supports aptX, a codec allowing slightly better audio quality being transferred, it's going to automatically detect it, aptX as a codec makes better sense with headphones because fine details are not too easy to notice, especially if you listen to the speaker outdoors. The operation is very easy and on top of all the buttons that you need, volume up and down, the function key, which can help you with playback control, the Bluetooth setup button and the X-Bass trigger. If you wonder what's the difference, here's what it does

 It's the first Pro edition of the Stormbox series and looks like it's meant to challenge even the mighty JBL Charge 5, which costs right now around $180. For the Stormbox Pro, Tribit are currently asking you to pay $120, and let me show you what's included. So yeah, we're unboxing, apparently nothing too fancy, but the point here is to keep the package as lightweight and small as possible, so kind of mission accomplished. On the box you can of course notice the main characteristics, obviously Qualcomm chipset inside, therefore we can count on quite good audio quality

 If you want to take a look on the specs, here they are, a 3-inch subwoofer, two 40mm speakers, up to 40 watts total output power, Bluetooth 5 with up to 100 feet range, there are two 5000mAh batteries inside, aptX codec is supported, frequency response between 60 and 20 thousand hertz, Type-C charging port behind the waterproof cover, and all of that weighs just below a kilo. I find this handle to be a brilliant solution for carrying, I always enjoy having straps on portable speakers, and this was the only thing I could criticize on Tribit's smallest one, the Micro.  The treble sounds amazing vocals, come through extremely clean and clear, and the base is right where it needs to be for something of this size. You also have that x bass button, which is like a bass boost button which will amp up the bass if you're looking for a little bit more low end and as far as distortion, i haven't really experienced any even at 100 volume. Now one thing i will say is that, if you're playing a song that you know for a fact, has some really intense low end bass and you play it at 100 with the xbase button on. Sometimes the bass might not sound as crisp, but again that's only for the times that you're maxing out the volume with the bass boost button on so sometimes in those situations

I purchased this speaker along with the Bang and Olufsen Beosound A1 2nd Gen. I was looking for a decently portable water resistant speaker for use around the house and while on vacation. I rolled the dice on the Tribit StormBox Pro because the smaller StormBox Micro has a great review on WhatTheHifi. 0 and I've found the connection to be mostly solid, but I've had audio stutters when I was only less than 5 meters away, but I noticed later that's because I put the speaker too close to a wifi router. So keep in mind, this is still not immune to wireless interference. Anyway we're going to see the test now and about the microphone, it's still not loud enough even when you're only an arm's length away from the speaker, but the quality has definitely improved from the Stormbox Micro here. So yeah, let's check it out now

1 setup, so two mid-high drivers, one independent sub, plus two passive radiators, will give me bass unlike anything else at this size. I mean, that's what I got from the Stormbox Micro, right? The bass response here is impressing people left and right, but for good or for worse, that is not the case with the Stormbox Pro. Interestingly enough, when I do a blind test comparing the Stormbox Pro to the Stormbox Micro, you're still getting that natural sound that doesn't try to pump the bass, or push the vocals, or even treble too much. So the sound signature isn't quite as different as one might think, and I respect Tribit for sticking to their sound signature across all their products like this

 Now, I think it's clear that the Stormbox Pro is much better than a Micro here now, but it's not as impressive anymore because it's coming from a hefty 1kg package as opposed to the tiny 300g speaker that fits in your palm. Also the power button doesn't need to be pressed for too long, you just, you know, do a quick tap and it would turn the speaker on and off. I like that too. And about connectivity, it's rated at 30 meters with support for Bluetooth 5
