Now a lot of cheaper Bluetooth speakers may not include this additional input source, so it's nice to see it included on the StormBox

 What the StormBox Blast lacks in subwoofer rumble it makes up for in lows and low-mids; the bass sounds rich and full through these drivers. The vocals sound pretty clear, but sometimes they compete with the lows (especially with XBass on) for space in the mix. The vocals also get some additional sibilance, part of the sculpting in the high-mids and highs that&rsquo;s necessary to balance out the boosting in the lows.

 XBass does little to boost their rumble, instead turning the already powerful drum loop into a seriously hard-hitting beat. This tells us that the StormBox Blast doesn&rsquo;t quite reach down to subwoofer-deep lows, though we rarely ever expect sub-bass to be in the picture for a portable speaker. What the StormBox Blast lacks in subwoofer rumble it makes up for in lows and low-mids; the bass sounds rich and full through these drivers. The vocals sound pretty clear, but sometimes they compete with the lows (especially with XBass on) for space in the mix

Bill Callahan&rsquo;s &ldquo;Drover,&rdquo; a track with far less deep bass in the mix, gives us a better sense of the StormBox Blast&rsquo;s sound signature. The drums on this track exhibit a pleasant fullness with XBass off, but with it on, they sound almost unnaturally thunderous. Callahan&rsquo;s vocals receive plenty of low-mid richness and treble edge, and the acoustic strums are bright and sculpted. At moderate volumes, both with and without XBass, the track sounds great, but at top volumes, the speaker starts to overwhelm the DSP a bit

 It's not made to be analytical, and to not have any bass whatsoever. But thankfully, XBass is here, and it's awesome, and it does the job. A little bit different in a better way compared to the Max Sound Plus, because when you toggle this on, it doesn't actually have to turn the entire audio off to just, you know, turn it back on with the new EQ on top, it just applies everything instantly. This is a much appreciated revision of the feature

 So, how much does this cost? Well, MSRP on these is 90 bucks, and in my perception, the bulk of this difference is because of the engineering for the 360 degree audio and the daisy chaining, but going above and beyond that, the difference in audio quality alone already makes up for that difference in price, but right now, you could grab one of these for 70 bucks on Amazon with free shipping. Now, who are the main competitors of this baby? Well, the JBL's, the Flip 3 and the Flip 4, and the UE Boom 2, and to get one of those, you're probably going to be looking around 95 to 149 bucks, so yeah, this is definitely the better pick among all of them. Now, would I actually recommend something like this, well, two somethings like this, daisy chained against one single badass 200 plus dollar Bluetooth speaker? Well, 200 plus is a little bit too broad, so let's say 200 to 250, like a Marshall Kilburn 2, for example. That's a difficult one, but since I've had this question before, the Marshall sounds really, really good, but you've got to remember that it doesn't get too loud

 All right, guys, that's it for this week, and I'll see you guys in the next one. So, you guys already know that this thing costs 50 bucks. It's absolutely killer material. You cannot go wrong with the Max Sound Plus

 Come on, it's just a bluetooth speaker, how can it be amazing, you just talked so highly about the other one. Now, think of this as the newer, bigger brother on a different scale, because that thing is 50 bucks, and this thing is a little more expensive, and it sounds and punches way above its price. This thing was made with the utmost attention to detail, maybe not necessarily attention to design language, since it's kind of reminiscent of a couple of its competitors. So yeah, I would have liked to see something a little more exclusively, you know, theirs with Tribit's characteristics in design, but still, as a bluetooth speaker, for what it costs, I'd pick this thing up against the entire competition line in a heartbeat

I didn't just buy these willy-nilly, mind you, I did a lot of research, including watching countless audio review videos from such experts as clavinetjunkie on YouTube (look him up, he's a genius!).  The first one I bought was the Tribit XSound Go ($40). It was OK, but just lacked "punch

 When new, you can charge these up and not worry about them dying for a good couple weeks of sporadic use. Now, after a full charge, I am LUCKY if I get five hours out of it.  So as always this is an honest review I'm not receiving any compensation for this I picked up my Stormbox off Amazon for $75 if you want to help the channel out there's some affiliate links in the description down below doesn't cost you anything extra and will help me out but I thought I'd run you through the process that I went through when I was researching Bluetooth speakers and why I picked the Trybit Stormbox. So firstly what is a Bluetooth speaker well unless you've been hiding in a cave for the last 10 plus years you've probably seen one of these little devices and I had an old Sony one quite a small one basically they're a rechargeable battery with a speaker attached and a Bluetooth circuit so that you can connect your mobile device or your tablet and I was looking for a replacement for my Sony Bluetooth speaker it's a little bit old now and the battery doesn't last very long and the sound wasn't great either so I started looking around doing some research and looking at a mid-sized speaker I didn't want anything that was too small and tinny sounding and I didn't want to lug around a massive big boom box either so I was looking for something around the half kilo mark fits nicely in the hand and can attach to the disc golf bag and not weigh it down and I also wanted something that I could listen to in the garden or out when I'm working in the shed or when I go out to the beach etc. So I set a budget of about 150 bucks that's what most of the half kilo Bluetooth speakers were selling for and I started doing some research online. So let's have a look at the range and I guess the two that come highly recommended in that $150 Aussie dollar mark is the JBL Flip 5 which sells in Australia for about $140 Aussie dollars and the other one is the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 which is a good price in Australia at the moment it's about $168 Aussie dollars but you might pick those up a little bit cheaper

2 which has less range but really that makes it more compatible with the older devices and range wise I didn't really have any issues I thought 40 meters is actually quite good. So final words well if you're looking for a nice good quality Bluetooth speaker that you can take with you out on the Disc Golf course listen to your tunes the TriBit StormBox is definitely worth having a look at and at the price it's 75 Aussie dollars it's just way better than the competitors you know you're spending double that for a JBL Flip 5. So if you want to you could spend twice the money you could get two of these for the same price if you want that stereo sound or save your money and spend them on discs instead. Also TriBit have just released a newer version they've replaced the StormBox Micro which is less weight it's smaller supposedly has the same volume so that might be worth checking out as well and it's been getting some great reviews on the audiophile website so if you want something that's a little bit lighter check out the StormBox Micro

 So we've already talked about price and you can see that the TriBit StormBox has a good head start on the other competing speakers if we look at power output of the speakers the StormBox is 24 watts compared with the Flip 5 the Soundcore Flare 2 and the Sony ones which are 20 watts it's a bit hard to tell what the ultimate is Boom 3 and Wonder Boom 2 are they don't report a power output RMS value they report in decibels so they're reporting the Boom 3 at 90 dB C scale and the Wonder Boom 2 at 86. There is some distortion at max volume but again that's something that you might see with most Bluetooth speakers it's not something you really want to drive this speaker at max volume but that max volume is quite loud. And also cons apparently this one does take a little bit longer to charge than the other competitors it is reported at four hours and I think when I charge mine up from empty it did take probably closer to five hours so if you want it to charge quickly maybe a bit of a con but again it's something that I would just plug in leave overnight. The last con is that it uses Bluetooth 4

 So I set a budget of about 150 bucks that's what most of the half kilo Bluetooth speakers were selling for and I started doing some research online. So Ultimate Ears is a brand of Logitech so both pretty good quality products JBL and Logitech and another option in the Ultimate Ears range is the Wonder Boom 2 a slightly smaller Bluetooth speaker sells for around about $98 but from what I've read in the reviews quite good sound. There's also the Sony SRS XB23 which sells around the $150 Aussie dollar mark as well and with a little bit more research I also discovered the Anker Soundcore Flare 2 which sells for about $120 on Amazon and it also gets some very good reviews

Best Bluetooth speaker Budget flexible

 Yes, Bluetooth speaker manufacturers remain too narrowly focused to produce a true quality product in this class, in my opinion. Verdict? Middle of the road. I plan to use it while snorkeling.

 The biggest weakness with this size of speaker is mono only output.  The 360 degree dispersion, actually more like a 270 degree spread, distributes sound in every direction. If you plan on listening to the Stormbox in private and in close proximity, this is perhaps the worst listening environment if you want to tap its strength. Its design says, ‘put me on a table in the middle of a room with people all around and turn me up, and that is the other key disappointment; it isn’t loud enough for the job

2020 update: Having used the speaker for about eight months I have the following to offer. I don't know what precisely causes this issue but for certain there is an issue between the firmware equalization and music I play which directly conflicts with the Tribit settings. This causes the music to do one of several things: total distortion takes over and the music is completely unitelligable, or the bass becomes scratchy and irritating, or mids and highs are right off the chart and sonic balance is out the window.  There are other times when it sounds fantastic for such a little beast
