If you're looking for a cordless stick vacuum that's lightweight and easy to carry around, the Dyson Omni-Glide is worth a look. It weighs considerably less than many other cordless stick vacuums, even other Dyson models like the Dyson V8 Animal. It does a great job dealing with small debris and pet hair on bare floors, though bulky debris tends to get trapped at its suction inlet. It also isn't designed for use on carpeted floors.  It'S a genuinely good innovation. That'S well executed design wise, but there are some downsides. The first thing i'll mention is that the battery life wasn't great. I like that the battery was removable and that you could buy extras if you needed to - and i understand that it was critical for them to keep the handle weight down by using a smaller battery

 They do two things that traditional floor heads don't do very well, which is pick up large debris, while maintaining a good seal on floors, as well as picking up super fine debris. Basically, dusting hard floors again something traditional vacuums. Don'T do well with the articulating neck and 360 degree casters on the bottom, make it incredibly maneuverable and able to do things and go places. Regular vacuums can't i'll have a lot to say about this aspect of the omni glide later, but first, let's hit some of the specs and test results

 But i would have liked to see a bit more than 20 minutes on standard power and about four minutes on max power. I should mention that i didn't need to use the max power mode in the pickup tests, except for the glitter test, because glitter has a way of sticking to the floors. All that to say that 20 minutes on standard power is probably what you can actually expect in real world use. Another negative is that, while hair didn't get caught in the roller per se, it did get caught in the axles of the roller, and it's something i think would be easy for someone to overlook and have problems with if they didn't remove it regularly

 It'S almost half the weight of the recent dyson v15 there's a removable battery in the handle the handle has two buttons, an on off button and a max power button. There is a dust bin that functions much like the recent dyson cordless vacuums, though it is quite a bit smaller than previous models, with the power test, where i tested its suction and airflow in different ways and on all of its power settings. It was interesting, for example, i found it was significantly below average in airflow and with the unsealed suction test, and it was exactly average in the sealed suction test. Basically, the raw power specs weren't anything special with the omniglide, but this wasn't entirely unexpected either

The stick vacuum is amaaaazing! I can clean the floors in my entire apartment in like 10-15 minutes.

 If the suction is not performing as it should do, you might have a clogged up filter. very easy to take out, just run out under the tap, let it dry in the air, and cover on a bit of paper somewhere, and then once it's dry, pop it back in. That's it. There is another filter up here, but I haven't changed that yet

 We've got carpets French wooden floors and travertine limestone type hard flooring. So the VA animal has been given a thorough road test in the last six six months and it's certainly a thumbs-up from me. Blokes do barbecues, mow the lawns, and now they use the vacuum cleaner around the house have a look to see what you think. So this is where our Dyson lives and our first floor multimedia cupboard

 Would I recommend it? Absolutely. I give it a 9 out of 10 if I'm being honest, the only thing I'd like to see and no dirt is going to be on your next models that come out. I Would suspect is that they have a quick-change rechargeable battery so when this one runs now just like the air filters, you can whip one out, put the new battery in and away you go see doubling your came in time. So that's really the only thing that I'd like to see change

Review of the Dyson V8 Animal

The best vacuum for hair (in my experience) is the Dyson V11 Animal (cordless so it's convenient to use...so it actually gets used)

I have 3 dogs and a cat. To say the shed is an understatement. I feel like it's fur fur fur all the time. We are moving into a new house and REALLY want to keep it clean from the get-go. Any amazing vacuums out there that can easily suck up all the hair and fur?? Also, we've been looking into roombas but wanted to know if anyone that has one would recommend it? Are roombas worth money?

What's the best vacuum for pet hair? And are roombas worth it?

 I would waste 15-20 lint roller sheets every day getting the hair off our bed before and it would never get them all. With this handheld accessory, I am able to get every single hair off in less than a minute of vacuuming. The same goes for the couch - I used to lint roll the couch every day, but now, I just use the vacuum. Because this is cordless and easy handheld, it also makes it easier for quick cleaning and touch up vacuuming

 The only negative is that if you have any rugs that are long/shaggy - the suction is so great, it just takes a little bit of extra arm strength to move it around. We have hardwood throughout our house, with lots of rugs for animal traction, so we love this vacuum because it is great on the wood but also provides heavy suction for getting the rugs hair free. Previous to getting this, I could shake out a rug after vacuuming and it would still be riddled with hair. With the V8 Animal, the suction is so great, it really does it the first time, no need for shaking

No matter how much we wiggled the charging cable, it would not stay charging

 The only problem is that it would take 7-10 business days to receive. We have had this Dyson product, which is supposed to be the leader in vacuums, for less than 30 days and we already have a piece that needs to be replaced. I understand things happen - but, because this is so new, I would think Dyson would be more willing to send out replacement parts a bit faster than this. So, it's been two weeks and we've been without a vacuum and we still don't have the new charging cable

While the machine is not overly heavy, it gets heavy lifting and holding it (with these tired old arms).

 My only complaints are that it takes a really long time (up to 8 hours) to charge and has been this way from day 1, the charge doesn't last long enough (less than 15 minutes on high power which is about long enough to do 1 room on my first floor), and I don't like the fact that there is no "lock" on the power switch so you have to continually squeeze it while vacuuming to keep it running. I think if you could change out the batteries it would go a long way to making many people a lot happier. I consider this a design flaw since most power tools are now available with a second battery that allows you to finish a job if your battery runs out.
