Keychron C2 vs Royal Kludge RK61

In hindsight after using this for about 3 months I wished I would have just forked the money over for Corsair board or more expensive keychron, but I was on the fence and this board was at a price point I was comfortable with. Below my pro/con and a bit of the con could have been avoided with some more in depth research, so hopefully helpful for you. Pros: - nice price point (at 60 bucks when I purchased not a bad value) - inbox accessories, like a keycap puller, was unexpected and been nice for cleaning - the rgb presets (no full programmable options with this model) work well and fill the need I have for it - while a lower end board been generally happy keycap and switch (not cherry mx on this board) quality Con - Have questioned the sturdiness of this board a few times. Dripped a few mL of water on some keys and while I cleaned it up quickly shaked it out, thought I fried the cntrl key which made the board completely unusable

Unfortunately, that's kind of where my joy ends - beyond that, I do not love the plastic the keycaps are made out of. It feels like lower quality as compared to other boards I have typed on. I went with the blue switch - which it does deliver a great click.

I picked my Royal Kludge RK100 up for $80, it's usually $90 but there was a coupon that popped up on amazon. For $80, I couldn't be *too* upset about the lack of dissasembly options and the raised LEDs, but had I known that was the situation, I likely would have just gotten a Keychron K4 instead for a little bit more.

I use the C2 for software development on a Macbook Pro, and sometimes Windows machine. The keyboard that I was accustomed to using prior was a Lenovo, which for me was the gold standard for years. I am not a gamer. Now that I use a C2, I can't go back to anything else

I just bought my first mechanical keyboard Royal Kludge RK61 RGB and it's great especially for it price. However in wireless mode via Bluetooth backlight turns off after 60 seconds. I already searched internet a lot for a solution and it seems like there is no solution for this stupid issue. I just can't understand why they made such a good product with full RGB customization and decided to turn lightnings off after minute and don't give customers chance to disable or change that setting

Keychron C2 100% (US ISO layout) from Keychron UK for £74. Hot-swappable. RGB backlight (15 modes, off, solid color). Comes with pretty decent Gateron G Pro factory lubed switches (linear red or tactile brown are quiet enough), wired connection, “hardware” switch for Win/Mac (no software required)

4ghz receiver works fine for the price and latency is fine. Bluetooth and wired modes work fine. Really my biggest gripe is that the manual doesn't properly explain how the keyboard is laid out well, which is pretty essential on any board smaller than 65%, which is why I docked a star. Still recommend the board, but I really hope the manual and documentation can get an improvement in the future

All in all, this is a fantastic keyboard with fantastic build quality and even fantastic backlighting. Typing out this review was even a pleasure because of its feel. I cannot recommend it enough!

So the back plate is made out of plastic with minimal flex, and the keycaps don't experience a lot of wobbling, except for the space bar and the shift...

This is the best choice at this price point, just wish the swappable version of this with the gateron browns was in stock. You might want some type of hand wrest, there are some very cheap cloth ones on here.

Personally, looking back I would recommend that people thinking about buying this spend a few more bucks and get one of the bigger names out there. I’m currently using a HyperX Alloy Origins wired keyboard and I love it. This keyboard is fine as a starter or something like that, but if you spend an extra 15-25 dollars you can get a (much) better quality keyboard that will likely last you for many years to come.
