Asus RT-AX88U

I have an AX88U and this is the single best WiFi experience I have ever had. Our house is about 1500sqft, and my current desk location (which is temporary) is probably at one of the farthest points in the house away from the Router. I pay for gigabit (it's Cable so only 940mbps) and I get *full speed* when at my desk, over WiFi, using a ASUS PCE-AC88 WiFi card.

* I'd rather go with ASUS because of the AI mesh option. * I'd like it to be WiFi 6 because I use it to stream to my Oculus Quest 2 and futureproofing. * We have a 100mbps connection to the internet, but it may be upgraded to gigabit internet in the next 3 years.

I currently have two Asus RT-AC68U routers setup in a mesh (an option provided by Asus). Everything was great until about a year ago. We definitely noticed problems when we were all working / learning from home (four of us in the family), but even before that our house had a LOT of devices constantly connected (I was very surprised that we had issues since we never really did before and everyone was online in the afternoons and evenings, but I guess video calls maybe had a bigger impact than expected).

Had this router for about a year, and although I don't use it any more, it was the best all in one router I've had.

After much debate, I went with the Asus rt-ac86u and it was great - for 3 weeks. It managed my router vpn and IoT array well without any issues.
