 If you want to hear the nuances of vocals, you can do that. To my personal taste, this is a nearly perfect headphone. This is one of my favorite headphones overall. And if you're wondering what the total score, I'm not going to hide it

 And that's exactly what you get with this headphone. And I'm not just saying that because he said I had these thoughts way back when I've had this for almost two months now, I've had this headphone for a long time. And one of the main benefits for this headphone is you don't need an amplifier. So you don't have to really factor that into your costs

 You can do that. If you want to hear the lowest of low notes, you can do that. If you want to hear the nuances of vocals, you can do that. To my personal taste, this is a nearly perfect headphone

 This is going to be a 10 out of 10 for me. This is a nearly flawless headphone with a couple caveats, couple quirks here and there that will go over. But overall, this to me is the complete package. And if I believed in an end game headphone, this would probably be it

Audeze LCD-X Review

 Mids very recessed, bass not very different from my HD6XX/HD650, and overall a "hollow" sound that just sounded very strange. Tried to acclimate to them but to no avail; out of the box, the Audeze LCD-X were a complete disappointment for their $1200 price point.

Initially, I was disappointed by the LCD-X. Plugged her into my amp, hit some tunes, and immediately felt that the sound was completely unnatural. Just got my first "endgame" headphones! Impressions/emotional roller coaster in the comments.

 Not flat sounding at all, and that is why they want to sell you an EQ program to run them through. What’s the point of that? Why not just make them flat in the first place? They are beautifully made, but way way too heavy to wear for a six hour mixing session. You really feel them up there on the old head after an hour or two.

 Not at all neutral in the slightest. Rich sounding? Yes, but with a very strong mid range frequency boost. Not flat sounding at all, and that is why they want to sell you an EQ program to run them through. What’s the point of that? Why not just make them flat in the first place? They are beautifully made, but way way too heavy to wear for a six hour mixing session

 Okay, cable. This is a heart audio cable, which Cody also sent me. That was both because this is balanced so that I can try them on my HP2, and also because the stock cable is not good. This is a stiff, thick kind of piece of rubber

 I think these are fantastic. And if you only listen to weeb music or electronic music or EDM, these are fantastic and you're going to love them. If you listen to pretty much anything else, especially stuff which relies on convincing sounding vocals, these aren't going to be your cup of tea. These are not going to work for you

 These are some pretty interesting headphones. These are the Audeze LCDX, these were sent in to me by a friend, thank you very much Koji. And for every reason I have to love these and why other people might love them, I have another reason as to why some people are going to hate these. I've got pretty mixed thoughts

 If you listen to pretty much anything else, especially stuff which relies on convincing sounding vocals, these aren't going to be your cup of tea. These are not going to work for you. These are really, really good fun for stuff which needs force and speed and doesn't need realism. But for things which need realism, these don't work

Audeze LCD-X: Very bummed at the setup they had for these. They were using YouTube and a Schiit Hel. I don’t feel like I got to give them a fair shake. Definitely didn’t have the depth or definition or excitement of what I was just listening to, the LCD-5…

I thought the DCA Stealth had great bass...I listened at the Headphones.com table with the Forge tube amp (which more people should be talking about). Then I went to the DCA room and compared with Aeon, Noire, and Ether 2s...No comparison - Stealth kills them all in comfort, clarity, and outstanding musicality. I came to the show with zero interest in them and left wanting them.

The LCD-5s were drop the mic! I look forward to a review with them side-by-side with the Stealth.

The Rosson RAD-0's and Focal Clear Mg's also impressed the heck outta me too. They seem like perfect Electronic and EDM headphones.

My favorite, aside from the 10K dollar Estat setups (weirdly enough I thought the VOCE and Blue Hawaii set up at DCA sounded amazing) was the final Audio D8000 Pro. Not at all what I expected; never even tried a Final Audio product before; plugged it into my source at the Headphones.com table, and *bliss*
I felt as though it was similar to the LCD-5, but a little less 'in your face,' and more comfortable. The clamp was a little too strong for me on the LCD-5.

Legend X’s are best in a custom form. I found them extremely muddied but the bass from the universal model.

My musical tastes are shifting further toward dub and reggae, two sounds where a punchier bass that doesn’t overwhelm can sure make a difference. Do you think the Duo is the best choice there or is there something different you would look at?

CanJam SoCal! Various impressions. Absolutely ruined by LCD-5.

Amazing experience but a lot of money for someone who is a casual audiophile, this is everything they say it is, the end game headphone the Ferrari experience but just like a Ferrari you wouldn’t want it to be your daily driver, sometimes you want a soft confortable ride and practicality for that i chose the senheiser 660s every time, for an extreme experience the lcd x its a must have if you gave that amount of money for a headphone you use ever once in a while. Sounds is amazing detail detail everywhere its amazing how every different recording and type of music sounds more of what it was intended to sound like bass very detail and big, mids and highs detail everywhere my only complaints are, vocals are a little thin and this type of experience is exhausting i can only listen for a few hours unlike my senheiser or monolith 1060c i can listen for days.

 I also enjoy the fact that it's 20 ohm impedance and a relatively high sensitivity and I can plug it into just about anything and it'll sound great. But that reference tuning is really, really satisfying because it gives me all of the great things about, say, an LCD-2, which has, again, a linear tuning but a little more luscious low end, a little more richness, a little bit of a smoother upper mid presentation. The LCD-X takes that and it smooths all of that out but in a less colorful way and it's a little bit, again, more linear tuning. So when I do my professional work and I'm mixing audio or working on song production or things like that, this headphone gives me a very accurate presentation of what that song is going to sound like across a wide variety of systems

 If you like something that's pretty neutral, you can also pair it with a Farum Audio OOR. That's a headphone amp that has tons of headroom, super linear, super neutral, and I've mixed on that combo before and actually really like it and own it. Now I have to say that overall what the LCDX does is to me sort of a primer on what a great planar magnetic headphone that has a really great out of the box frequency response should do. It's got those dynamics, it's got that really liquid smooth mid coherency, it's got the really tight punchy bass

 The LCD-X takes that and it smooths all of that out but in a less colorful way and it's a little bit, again, more linear tuning. So when I do my professional work and I'm mixing audio or working on song production or things like that, this headphone gives me a very accurate presentation of what that song is going to sound like across a wide variety of systems. Now, why might you want this as an audio file? Well, some of the things that are exciting about that are when you have a neutral headphone like this and a lot of planar magnetics have great frequency response but the LCD-X is a particular standout. So when you have a great headphone like this and you can plug it into any amplifier, choosing the right amplifier becomes kind of a fun process

 The leather free ear pads are a little bit softer and they tend to take the treble perceptually down just a little bit compared to the leather ear pads, which retain that really linear, neutral sort of studio reference sound. For the most part, however, though, even with the leather free ear pads, I find that the LCDX is like really a thrilling listen and again has that very neutral sound, it'll play a wide variety of program material. I listen to everything from jazz, fusion, classical music, modern pop music, it'll play all of that really, really well. And that's again, one of the reasons why I really love this headphone and it gets a lot of head time for me personally

Really must equalize or they don't sound great

I have always been into audio however I didn't dive into the audiophile world until 2 years ago. I love how every headphone has its own characteristics and suits a specific or range of genres. The Audeze LCD X is an all round astounding headphone which has the best bass I have ever heard from a headphone, the driver and pads literally shake to very high quality sub-bass and its intoxicating.
