 Now it's got two cables which we'll talk about in a second but these are light gaming headsets built with aluminum, it's got a very light frame, it's got 40mm drivers and it's got some nice decals around as you can see the Audio-Technica logo on there in that mesh design. You've got soft leather on the top there with Audio-Technica basically printed on top and a nice soft mesh where your head actually will rest. Now the earcups do move about and also they're made out with Velcro, they can tilt, they can expand out, up and down but they cannot lay flat on your neck. That's the one thing they do not do

 You've also got an inline cable remote which has a mute as well as a volume rocker so you can actually mute on and off as well as also increase the volume. Now I have to mention this review, I didn't mention earlier, this review has been recorded using the mic of this gaming headset so I'm actually recording this whole audio using this very mic that you see here which is actually very nice and you can hear the sound quality so I'm giving you my sound sample as I record the audio of this. So that's the first mic there, you also have a second mic which is actually a mobile mic which you use on the go, you can use it with your smartphone, you can also use an other mic with your smartphone but this is more of the mobile mic, it's got a volume slider, it's got a call answer button and you can listen to music with this as well as answer phone calls and again the mechanism to plug it in is pretty simple, on the left ear cup you just push it in, it's really a 3.5mm jack so any cable cords will still work with that

 Easily expandable either way so you can actually fit different head sizes with ease and again like I mentioned they are really really light headphones which is one thing that's pretty good. Audio Technica ATH-PDG1 Review

 The headphones were just not giving me the sort of experience I was hoping for.  Within 15-20 minutes of receiving these headphones, I boxed them back up into their original packaging, requested a return, and sent them back.

 I also tried plugging it into my computer and again was still disappointed. I even tried tweaking and retweaking all of the audio settings on both devices to make sure that they were outputing audio the way I wanted. The headphones were just not giving me the sort of experience I was hoping for.  Within 15-20 minutes of receiving these headphones, I boxed them back up into their original packaging, requested a return, and sent them back

 One thing I always make sure to do before buying any sort of speakers or headsets is check the technical specifications. For headphones, I check the size of the drivers, the attentuation measurements, wattage, anything and everything. But most importantly, the response range. I want to hear the really high highs, and the really low lows

Audiophiles should pass on this

 Today on Discharge Upworks we got prepared for you a review of the Audio-Technica ATH-PDG1, their most affordable gaming headset in their line of really premium gaming headsets. But is it any good? Stick around to find out. The whole experience starts with the unboxing, the link to which you can see on the link above. Aside from that, all you get in the box is the headset itself, a few options as to how to use the device, be it with a dedicated microphone as you can see here, or with a slimline connector that has an inline remote and inline microphone, that is, when you want to use the PDG1, an everyday casual use, not just the hardcore gaming aspect

2 meter cable that comes with a flexible 6 inch boom mic for gaming sessions. This enables you to directly connect to a PS4 or a PC with the headphone and microphone jacks. This cable also has inline audio controls and a switch to mute the microphone, but sadly there is no option to independently control the volume of the microphone except on the windows itself. Also an important thing to note is the proprietary connector on the headphones as it is a non-standard shape that disables you to use any aftermarket cables in the event that the cables provided to you by Audio-Technica get damaged or something of the like

 I don't know, but it's just a problem that I had when using the PDG1s. On the other hand the dedicated microphone with a 6 inch boom is really good, it's not as good as a dedicated studio microphone, but it sounds better than almost any other gaming headset out there. So thumbs up for that to Audio-Technica. More and all, although the PDG1s are one of the better looking gaming headsets out there with their black, red and space metal gray design, I can't really recommend them, because when you once come to these waters of 200 euros for a gaming headset, you expect a decent enough sound reproduction, together with the design of course

While the PDG1s do look gamery with their black, red and space grey aesthetic, they still can be used in public without anyone batting an eye

 Max volume and i still hear half as good as i would with my othet headset.  The mic on the other hand is one of the best sounding mics out there. For the price def worth it if you were a esports caster or announcer. Very good

Some games require you to turn up the sound to hear footsteps and this doesnt cut up. Max volume and i still hear half as good as i would with my othet headset. Sound is great but the depth of the inner ear could be better. I used the logitech g930s as an example, they have alot of room inside the earcups so that my ears inside stay comfortable. They run $199 so they're not the cheapest headphones on the market but if you're a hardcore gamer that's nothing to get really good sound and make sure everyone can hear every breath and every comment and every snarky remark that you have to make. So this is Dave Taylor and I think I survived that particular strafing run but you never know about the next one so I'm out of here and I'll catch you in my next video.

 And now I have a nice 6 inch little mic right there on my headset. So if you are a gamer and you really need to trash talk those people or work with your team while you're trying to take out the bad guys, this is a very nice setup.  Hi, Dave Taylor here again and this time I'm looking at the Audio-Technica ATH-PDG1. These are their professional grade gamer headphones. Now they're really nice with 40mm drivers, very comfortable. They are by themselves really nice headphones with a really nice deep bass sound

 But what I really like about this is, oh and let me show you another thing, is that on this you have a single connector but it comes with an adapter. So you plug this baby in and now for the PC gamers out there you're thinking I need a microphone connector and an audio out connector and you got both. So it comes with all the adapters you need, darn handy. But let's say you don't really need the microphone and you just want to use them as nice headphones

 You may want to venture that direction as well if looking for a great headset for PS4/Xbox One.

 On the PS4 it doesn't get loud enough even when you go into the device settings. The Xbox one however you can get them a little bit louder than the PS4, but with the cost of crackling noise while navigating through the menus. I'm not saying to avoid these at all, just be wary of the issue that ||I had with them. I am looking at the MX50's and have heard nothing but great things from them in regards to this headset

 Okay and now we come to the part where I'll just tell you what I think about these headsets. The first thing I really like about them is that they're extremely comfortable. The new headband design is a lot better, at least I think it's a lot better than the 3D wing design. The E-pads are very soft, they're also removable and you can wear them for long periods of time and they feel very comfortable

These are open back designed headphones so if you're looking for closed headphones you can get the alternative model which is the PG one. So these are the PDG one and the main difference is that with open headsets you get a wider sound stage however you can also pick up sounds from the environment and people around you can hear a little bit what you're listening to

 On the PlayStation 4 however, you can also adjust the volume through the controller, through the on screen menu. This is a TRS connector, so tip ring ring sleeve and the standard format for PlayStation 4. However this also works in smartphones. Now it has a separate smartphone cable, but you can use the headset like this in your smartphone, just if you walk around like that you might look a little bit silly

  That being said, they are VERY uncomfortable. The insides of the headphones are hard and press painfully against my ears, which is not normally a problem I have with headphones. You can feel the rims of your ears press against the hard speaker inside the ear padding. There just isn't enough room for your ears inside the padding, and it results in my having to take them off and massage my ears every ten/fifteen minutes

  It's a shame honestly, because other than that the headphones are amazing, which is why I'm still rating 3*

Sound is good, mic quality is good, and I can hear my game as well as other people in the room very easily, which is why I bought the headset in the first place. In terms of size and weight they're fairly small especially compared to my ATH8700X's which are an open back pair of headphones. They're fairly similar in size to a lot of Turtle Beach headsets

 There is a closed back variation of this headset with all of the same accessories but slightly different drivers and obviously a different sound signature. In terms of compatibility on the box it says PC and PS4 but if you have one of the new updated Xbox One wireless controllers you'll be able to utilize this headset with that out of the box, alternatively if you have a Xbox One wireless controller adapter you'll also be able to utilize it. On top of that you also get some functionality with smart devices and that comes via one of the two included cables that attach to the headset. First of all we've got a 1 meter smartphone cable, this is an included mic and volume slider

 A little flashy but fairly subdued compared to a lot of other gaming headsets on the market. Audio Technica ATH-PDG1 - Budget Friendly Premium Open Back Gaming Headset!

I was expecting something way more than what I got especially with the audio Technica name behind it, the headphones are light and come with all the cords neaded for PC mobile and I think pa4 and Xbox if you have the adapter. Sound quality is so shotty and when wearing my ears get hot and compare it to my astro a40 my Astros even with a blown driver sounds way better then these, maybe there newer models provide something a little more well I hope alot more, I would not recommend these at all at this price range, as a little p.s. on this I will say they are very light weight and can't really feal the headset aside from touching my ears,
