Looking to upgrade xair 16, i have outgrown it and need more xlr inputs aux sends and want to have some faders that can be quickly adjusted when a speaker starts eating the mic. The usecase is a video recording / streaming studio. So no live music, just talking heads and some laptops as audio sources.

I am looking for a digital mixer that can be controlled on the console and also with a windows app.

Was thinking about the Behringer x32 compact

But when i am upgrading i might get something that is a bit more high-end to make i easier for sound engineers i hire.

In the past i have been hearing from some of the sound engineers that they use Allen and Heath mixers.

Now my question is, would the Allen &amp; Heath SQ5 be a good option and is this worth the significant price difference with the x32 compact.

Or is there an other mixing desk that you would recommend for my usecase.

 That's the first thing that you're gonna want to do. You're gonna want to go into your routing and You're gonna want to ask about the routing depending on what it is that you're wanting to do Routing for live routing for recording and routing for for your particular situation But once you assign your tracks where you want them to you're gonna want to go into scenes I'm gonna show you how to do that You're gonna go down here to the right and you're gonna hit this view button right here And that's gonna take you to this screen right here And you're going to arrow over until It gets to scenes It gets to scenes and these are a couple scenes that I've saved and you can turn this knob right here And that'll get you wherever you're going if that's the one that you want. That's what you're saving, you know Save your once they're assigned where you want them to save it and then when you're getting back into it, that's what you'll do You'll come here. You'll pick which one you want

Here's your High cut low cut All this stuff it's very very very awesome Also another thing you want to make sure is that your monitor level is up So you know if this is all the way down you're not going to get your sound out of your your monitors So you're going to want to make sure that that is turned up to where you can hear if you're working on headphones same thing Remember also if you're working with condenser mic that you're going to want your phantom power so I highly suggest muting your tracks while you're plugging things in and out so If you're working on a specific track and you want to get over to the eq, you're just going to want to hit your home button and Here's all your fancy fancy stuff. So you want to get over to your eq There you go and Knobs and dials. So if you don't like that and you're like me, you don't want to hit knobs and dials and you want to use a tablet Okay, if you want to run off a tablet I um, I never paid for the app

 I'm running off USB So XUF USB is what you're gonna want and basically I've already done this I don't want to do it again, but you'll just you'll download that and it'll walk you through the steps I had a heck of a time getting mine going it took four sweet water attacks and Chad at Behringer But hopefully it'll work easier for you, and maybe that was just my computer so download this driver and That'll be good for your PC So again download this driver X USB for the PC and this is going to help you get your X32 compact hooked up to your DAW. It's all the same So just follow that and that should get you set up to your DAW So the next thing I want to talk about a little bit is more in routing and you're going to come to find out that Routing is this machine's favorite word because you have to route everything if you want to hook up a computer You have to route everything if you want to hook up a headphone amp main outs everything you're going to want to make sure that Everything is appropriate on your routing so You have all these tabs over here, and you can just left arrow This is what mine looks like for Running on my DAW this card one two is a very big one here at the end you want to make sure that it's on there and Then you have all of your aux outs Your card out this is what mine looks like so there you go So routing big deal Headphone amps anything you're going to want to route and you're going to want to tell it where to go and how much volume So you're going to want to tell it how much volume is going to go to whatever you're sending out So again any other reasons why you might not be getting some sound Getting some sound you want to make sure that your gain is up and remember if you're working on a track select it and You can you can go from there. There's there's your gain.  I'm enjoying the interface very much, it's very easy to EQ with an RTA running and the sends on faders function for mix busses is great. Up until now I've been mixing small concerts and podium mics but this spring I will be A1 for our spring musical.

Complicated to use... but great when you get to understand

I was looking into a 16 channel Mackie and also comparing it to Yamaha, it will be used for live performances and at a basement studio.  I know nothing about this stuff but I am trying to learn. This is for my daughter's band but they are 15 years old and not too technical as far as mixers go so I am trying to help. As I listened to some of the detailed reviews on youtube I learned that the Mackie cannot output all 16 individual channels via USB and I cannot find anything that does.  If no such animal exists, what next? Is there a way to output all 16 channels from the mixer into a 16 channel digital audio interface?  I am okay with buying two different devices.   I would also appreciate a recommendation on a 16 channel mixer. Watching reviews brings up more questions and I am very inexperienced. Hopefully the description of the intended use will help more experienced users recommend a mixer.   thanks!

Is there a 16 channel mixer that can output each individual channel via USB to a DAW?

X32 is a must have, in the studio or on the road.

I live in a developing nation with very few sound professionals. There are two clubs next to each other, the main club is your standard 2-300 person night club, with a VIP area on the second floor. The second club is more of a lounge/bar for 150ish people, with another VIP area on the second floor.

Currently the nighclub is waaayyyy too loud. The owner wants me to talk to his DJs to tell them it doesn't need to be that loud, and some ways to make it feel louder with out hurting peoples ears. Sub levels are pretty even through the whole floor, there are parts of the VIP area that are lacking, and the corners are a mess, so I recommended getting some bass traps.

The lounge has a lot of metal columns/surfaces and the owner does not want to cover them, but the reverb is very bright. I'm assuming I can fix this with an EQ. Currently the mixer only has one out, but it has two aux sends that I am assuming I can use for the VIP area. He is open to buying a new mixer though.

So really do you guys have any recommended literature on how to mix down this room? there isn't live performances, it's really just 4x4 DJ sets so we are hoping on one and done it as much as possible. I am a recording/mixing engineer at a studio that shares owners with a night club, the owner is asking me to make recommendations for the club's sound system, but I'm not sure where to start.
