ORIGINAL PARAGRAPH -- Ability to send specially tailored STEREO outputs to the AUX OUTPUTS. Despite there being options on the menu to link two AUX OUTs together for stereo channel separation and this capability being listed as a feature in the manual it does not actually work with the current firmware release. AUX OUT Channels joined using STEREO LINK only have matching MONO outputs. Where this is mixer is largely software defined I suspect this can be fixed in firmware

 Having the access point, especially at 5Ghz actually makes the wireless pretty usable! Over the last few months I haven't had any crashes requiring a hardware reset, but the upcoming months with be busier, so will be putting it to the test again. Overall I'm still pretty satisfied with the mixer despite the pitfalls. BUT on the Ui16 (and probably the Ui12) you have to pan not only the Main Mix L/R, but also individually pan each input on the Stereo linked SUB OUT channels on their setup screens as well. This was my issue

 When you can add new major features simply by plugging in software the platform becomes very flexible so long as software authors pay attention to detail. This platform is a good start and I plan to keep this mixer and hope for firmware updates bringing fixes and new features.

Very good with just a few issues

I’ve been using a UI16 for small shows I don’t want to haul the big X32 mixer to. Had an early meltdown where the page froze at a critical moment, but now I know just to refresh the page. And to not let the ipad lock/sleep or it loses connection and it takes a second to get back connected. The built in Wifi is lower power than a normal, current router

Recently I've been presented with an opportunity to get a Ui24r with a decent discount, putting it just barely above the pricepoint of an XR18.

Do I take the plunge?

Soundcraft UI24r - worth?

Alright lets wrap this review up. Should you get this? If it ticks all your boxes off then yes. It's a solid mixer and I enjoyed my time using it. Are there better mixers? Yes

App -- Pretty non-existent. You have to use a web browser to do anything with this mixer and that's a win-lose situation. The browser function was responsive but at times it would crash and I would have to reload the page. I wish the app sound craft has actually connected through my iPad so I could have tested that functionality

NOTE: I ended up returning mine due the lack of app support and lack of a full set of 16 inputs. I am going back to the Behringer series with their updated model (x16) which is the same price as this unit. Also the Behringer actually has the usable inputs I need and is a bit more rugged then the Sound Craft.

I’m a gigging musician, and I’m looking for an affordable solution to improving the EQ, balance, and sound when running a keyboard and microphone through an active PA speaker. 

The speakers I have, an old Alto powered speaker and a powered 12” Mackie thump powered speaker, are both very bass/low end heavy. 

Even with the low end gain turned down as far as it will go on my keyboard, the low end can be overpowering. 

And as I’ve been singing more on gigs, it’s become clear that running a SM58 directly into the speaker is just not gonna work. 

So any good recommendations for a small, portable 2-4 channel mixer/preamp that I can use to run my keyboard and SM58 through to the speaker? I just need to be able to cut the low end from the keys and get more volume from the mic, but being able to dial in a better tone for both would be great.

Questions regarding keyboard and microphone into active PA speaker

 I tested mine with a&nbsp;   HomeScreen Dual Band TouchScreen Wireless Router             &nbsp;just to see if it worked, and the manual also addresses the issue by recommending a booster antenna. For me it was range only and not dropouts, which is not nearly as bad as some reviews portrayed this mixer.

I purchased this mixer specifically because of the ability to control it from my tablet or phone. That feature alone makes sound checks a one-person operation when adjusting levels.

One final note about WiFi. I prefer to do a sound check, set levels and then don't mess with the mixer during a performance. I do the same with conventional mixers, so the potential WiFi drop out may actually be occurring, but I am unaware of it because of my approach to sound. In fact, after setting levels I shut down my tablet or phone, and often switch back to my main network router

Overall great mixer, but has some idiosyncrasies

I use the Soundcraft UI16, it was $400 used. That one has feedback suppressor and 2x channels of guitar amp emulators. All of those choices, they have all the effects and compressors and graphic EQ’s in them.

Long story short, I run jam sessions and a recently refinished warehouse wants us to start up a weekly show. Problem is, there are just 2 Proreck Party 12 speakers in the space right now for sound :(

I generally have 2 guitars, 1 keyboard, and bass all running direct with one or two mics. Mics are usually for sax, trombone, flute. We sometimes have vocalists but less frequently. Mic'ing the kick is an option too but drums will mostly be loud enough without any added amplification. 

I have a few SM57s but other than that need to make some gear acquisitions. 

Any thoughts on speaker set up? I was looking at the PV Escort 3000 plus a subwoofer or something like that, but we had been at a venue with the Yamaha Stagepas 400BT and it was not pleasant even at a cafe so in a warehouse I question these sort of compact PA systems adequacy. 

Budget is basically whatever we can keep it to within reason to do the job right. It needs to be sound that is good enough people want to come back again, but it does not need to be the best thing ever. If it could all be under $2k that'd be amazing but if the extra couple hundred bucks makes a noticeable difference then I'd consider it.

Warehouse Sound System for Live Bands - help!

 I use this mixer mainly for acoustic groups I play with, duos and trios mainly, so I have no problems with lack of channels. If you have a full band I might step up to the Ui16 which has 4 more inputs and recording capabilities. I run this mixer into a LD systems maui 28 and the sound we get is outstanding! Clear and articulate with little or no background artifacts, as long as you have clear idea of how to properly set gain structure.

Thought it was time to move into the world of digital mixing so I did some research and decided on the Ui12. The name Ui12 is a bit misleading, but almost all mixers these days count every input in their channel count. This unit has 8 channels with 4 having combo jacks for xlr and 1/4" input. there are 2 rca jacks that act as a stereo pair (channels 9 and 10) and a usb jack for plugging in a flash drive for break music or backing tracks (channels 11 and 12)

 Overall I am more than pleased with my purchase, Soundcraft has stuffed a whole bunch of cool and useful items into this mixer for about the same scratch as a decent 12 channel analog board, but the Ui12 will do things an analog board can only dream of. If you are looking to step into the world of digital mixing and don't have a few grand lying around to throw down on a mackie, qsc, or yamaha, then you should have a look at the Soundcraft Ui series. These mixers are awesome!

Great Mixer for short bucks!

Here's the skinny... 

We are a classic rock cover band and we are rehearsing for getting back out there after the pandemic. Plugged in my Yamaha EMX 88s powered head and there are a LOT of screwy XLR inputs now. I've been having issues with inputs not working but it seems to be failing (we've put it through lots of gigs). 

I was thinking about replacing it with a used one for a few hundred and still be able to use the Yamaha passive speakers. I would love to get a digital mixer and active speakers but we are on a semi budget.

I am having a hard time finding the same model, any other powered heads I should consider?
