 I Didn't know anything about them, but I had to learn because of this dial back here. And The first thing I learned was switch it to the one that kind of looks like a bean, because that's the cardioid pickup pattern. And that's what you want if there's just one person in front of the microphone. And From there, I learned about the other different pickup patterns

 This is the pre-Logitech Yeti reassembled by me. So Hey,, it works, that's good, right? And This is the brand new post-Logitech Yeti that I just took out of the box with the exact same settings on the cardio pickup pattern with the gain set to nine o'clock. So It is the exact same settings as the other one. So Now we can kind of tell if there are any sound differences

 I didn't have other microphones at the time other than one video mic. And So it let me have good streaming audio and it let me have good voiceover audio. So This microphone actually like unlocked potential for my channel that wasn't there before. So The first thing that I want to show you guys is the Blue Yeti, this guy right here

Is The Blue Yeti Microphone Really That Bad?

0, but this problem can usually be rectified with a powered USB 2.0 hub. The website itself also has a great amount of support documents for those with questions regarding the device. Highly recommended for first time microphone users

  Pros: + USB Mic + Gain Knob + 1-to-1 audio feedback + Works with common mic stands + 4 different recording settings + Heavy metal mount included + Great Customer Support  Cons: + Mic is a bit heavy + USB 2.0 + Slightly Awkward length  For the most part, theBlue Microphones Yeti USB Microphone works like a champ. Able to record quality audio under a multitude of situations. There are a lot of little touches that make it worth the extra bit you pay compared to theBlue Microphones Snowball USB Microphone 

 Minute complaint, but wish the mic input knob was the same type as the headphone volume knob. The mute button feels a bit flimsy, but with how rarely you'll likely push it, I doubt it will start falling off anytime soon (unless you brute mash it every time).  I included the picture of the box in the review, which outlines the different settings the mic has, but let me explain them a bit more:  - Cardioid: Perfect for doing solo recordings, it comes in crisp and clear, with almost little gain necessary. - Bidirectional: Perfect for duo recordings

  When I first got the mic I realized that the majority of my computers have USB 3.0 slots on them, so heading over to their website, I checked to see if the mic would perform well on usb 3.0. At the moment there are instances where the mic will not work properly over USB 3

Great Price, Great Quality, Little Drawback

 So if you're recording YouTube videos or any type of other video, you need high quality audio for video chats or live streams. Skype YouTube live Facebook Live Google Hangouts FaceTime any of that stuff Musicians: So if you're recording vocals or even instruments and if you're singing or you're rapping, the Yeti just does an excellent job by capturing a voice the way it sounds in real life with all the different pitches and tones but with clarity as well. Now I Mainly use it for video voiceovers for YouTube So I'll show you how I set it up and how it sounds. First, you want to make sure that you're speaking into the front of the mic and not the top

 Also, if you're in cardioid mode, make sure you eliminate as much background noise as possible. The Yeti does a pretty good job at minimizing picking up the background noise and stuff like that around your room and your keyboard, but no mic is perfect and will. No mic will eliminate all background noise so try to minimize the background noise as much as you can before recording for the best results. Lastly, once your recording is done, you can use your audio software to raise the levels if needed or edit the recording in whichever way you want to improve it

 The more gain, the louder and more sensitive the mic will be. So do a couple test recordings or monitor your audio levels and make sure your levels are high enough but not peeking into the read levels on your recording software. Also, if you're in cardioid mode, make sure you eliminate as much background noise as possible. The Yeti does a pretty good job at minimizing picking up the background noise and stuff like that around your room and your keyboard, but no mic is perfect and will

Best USB Microphone! Blue Yeti Review + Mic Test

So I have a setup that had a lot of background noise whether it be my keyboard clacking, mouse clicking, or just general background noise (fans, music, etc.). This both was bad for gaming, and discord with friends. So I needed a mic that could generally filter those things out

 I saw this and thought it would be pretty good especially for its price. However, I encountered nothing but problems with this mic and its software. The mic itself has HUGE connectivity issues with the USB. It constantly disconnects if you so much as breathe on the wire

 Then there was the fact that it seemed like the software didn't actually matter to things like games? I did everything from setting the Mic to default communications, going to settings and making sure it's set to that mic. But for whatever reason (at least in apex/valorant) the software just didn't affect the mic at all and it was still picking up fans/key clacking etc. For discord it sometimes worked but then randomly the software would stop working and ofc my friends let me know that it stopped working lol. It was overall a headache to deal with

Fairly big problems for me

 If you're going to use it in, say, a recording studio, I think you might be disappointed - I tried recording a few musical instruments, and for the most part, it gave me pretty poor results. Of course, it's not advertised as a musician's microphone, so I can't complain about that.  Bottom line is that the Blue Yeti has done pretty much everything I thought it would, and for the most part, it's met my expectations. I've tried less expensive microphones, and the Blue Yeti seems to be a step above in terms of performance - but at the same time, don't expect the results of a fancy studio microphone costing ten times as much

 This Blue Yeti caught my eye, and for the most part, it's met my needs.  It's a large device - definitely bigger than I expected. Still, the construction quality seems very good, and the solid, mostly metal device definitely transforms my desk into something looking more professional.  I had no issues connecting it to my MacBook - it was recognized instantly and it worked just like any other audio device

 For my needs, this is a great tradeoff, and I'd have no trouble recommending it to anyone wanting a basic, rugged and easy to use solution.

I was shopping for a USB microphone to record audio for some podcasts I do. The sound quality I got from the microphone built into my MacBook (and from my Apple AirPods) was poor enough that I wanted to upgrade, but I didn't want to spend a fortune. This Blue Yeti caught my eye, and for the most part, it's met my needs.  It's a large device - definitely bigger than I expected

In using this mic for Zooming, it's so sensitive that I have to keep it a good foot or two from my mouth or it will be muffled. The only real issue I had with this is that the power cord is designed as such to not allow the mic full range up and down the swivel range.  These other options for USB recording solutions I bought first, tested, and then returned. I am now happy with the Yeti I got as a replacement. The Yeti, unlike these other USB computer port recording solutions, also has on-microphones recording volume control that is much easier and faster to use than adjusting volume via a computer program. The Yeti has great sound quality, and also a built-in microphone jack with on-microphone volume control that allows you to hear input without the processing delay common through a computer jack - which is aids quality recording over background music quite a bit

5mm jack is something I have done in the past with good success, but my newer computer has only a single 3.5mm jack serving either speakers or microphone, but not both at the same time, and therefore requires a USB microphone for simultaneous connection of wired devices for microphone input and speaker output, which is why I was forced into the search that lead to me buying the USB-connected Yeti. Unfortunately, it seems there is no power supply/preamp combination, even my Behringer, that can be use between an XLR or jacked microphone and a USB port. Note that this is a BIG microphone most suited for use on a desktop or on a microphone stand (it has a screw hole for attachment)

Finally, I note that all my experience has been with a Windows computers, using two different Windows operating systems (XP and 10) and two different computers, and that the results for all microphones I mentioned were the same on the two computers and for all of the three USB ports built into each of those two computers

The MOST IMPORTANT feature of this microphone that made me very happy, after considerable problems with other microphones that interface with a computer via USB, is that the volume of the input recording signal sent to the computer is more than adequate for almost all recording on a computer (using for example the free program Audacity). All other solutions for finding or adapting quality microphones for use to record on a computer via USB do not have a strong enough signal sent from the microphone to the computer via a USB port for sufficient recording volume and flexibility. For example, the USB Blue Snowball microphone, which is substantially cheaper and made by the same company as the Yeti, has excellent sound quality (although not as good as the Yeti), but sends such a very weak signal to the computer that it is really only useful in recording very close to the microphone or for recording very loud sound sources. The cables that you can buy that use USB to power conventional XLR microphones such as those made by Shure and allow them to be used for recording on computers via the USB port are even worse - the signal sent to the computer is much, much, too weak and in my experience too full of static for useful recording

Great Microphone, Adequate Recording Volume At Last

 The mic can pick up the hum of a washing machine some 40 feet away through the floor and a table, with the mic gain all the way down and 20% software gain. The mic rotates down into its base for transport. Hold onto the molded Styrofoam and inner box that the mic shipped in. That's as close as you're going to get to a carrying case

 The base is solidly made, with weight added for vibration absorption and stability - a big plus in this price range. But the vibration damping needs some help from additional soft material below it.  The mic driver includes software tone control and room calibration.  The sound quality is adequate to capture detailed, well-defined sound of acoustic instruments, but not without a certain degree of noticeable loss. That's inherent in the relatively small capsules (14mm) compared to the capsules on higher end USB condenser mics. Someone demanding a broader response or a warmer, livelier sound might be better off with a larger capsule mic, such as the Audio Technica AT2020 USB or AT2020 USB Plus

  The overall design of the mic is retro-cute, but very robust. The mic body is a metal tube with the USB and headphone connectors on the bottom cap, along with a threaded mounting socket. The connections appear to be well reinforced - a critical feature since they are major wear and tear points on USB mics. There is no stress relief system built in for the cords, so it is a good idea to improvise one
