 We also get this really cool base for the microphone. It's quite heavy. It's actually quite a lot heavier than the microphone itself so there's no chance of it slipping or falling over. One of the cool things we get in the box is this microphone mount

 In today's video we're checking out the HyperX QuadCast S USB RGB, take a look at all these cool lights, condenser microphone, this is a plug and play USB only microphone that has a bunch of connectivity. It'll work with a PC, a Mac, it'll work with the PlayStation 4 and many apps including TeamSpeak, Discord, Skype, Open Broadcaster software, so if you're a gamer you can use this absolutely with OBS. It will also work with XSplit and many other plug and play applications. This video will hopefully cover everything you need to know about this microphone and I'll timestamp everything in the description below and then we're also going to test it up against the Rode NT-USB Mini and the legendary Blue Yeti which I've had for countless amounts of years

 Now we can take the mic and the shock mount off this base and then hook it up to a boom arm. Now I have a Rode PSA1 boom arm. They're 14 millimeter capsules which aren't the biggest in the world but I think it works extremely well given what you've heard so far. The frequency response of this microphone is 20 hertz to 20 kilohertz which means it's going to pick up all the lowest end of human hearing and all the way up to the highest frequencies

 I've tested so many microphones over the last 15 years or so. I'm going to give you my thoughts about how this weighs up against these two guys at the end. HyperX QuadCast Gaming & Streaming Mic Review / Test

If you’re an average daily gamer this will be plenty fine for you as long as you know how to work sound settings. The hardware and your own software take a bit if tweaking to get this mic into a good spot, but once you do it because a seamless part of your gaming experience.  I swapped to this over using a high-end headset like I have for the last 6 years, and I can definitely tell there was a drop in mic quality. The background noise isn’t an issue at all which is a sign of a good mic, but the clarity of my voice has definitely gone a bit down

That being said, the quality is still pretty good and is definitely enough for gaming communications over something like Discord. However if you are trying to be a high-end streamer or Youtuber and you need the best quality audio, well then this is NOT for you

 This is another test of a HyperX microphone so again I use this for capturing my voiceovers for YouTube videos as well as live streaming on Twitch. Can I just say this looks so pretty oh my god these lights are so good ah anyway let's quickly test out the mute button so I'm going to keep talking and I'm going to hit mute. Are you going to be able to hear me now or what about now? So I don't really think there's going to be differences between the cardioid patterns on both microphones that's my prediction. The technology is pretty much the same it's just whether or not this can capture more or if it's more hi-res I'm not quite sure but I don't really have the right ways to test out the stereo or the bi-directional and omnidirectional patterns because it's not the kind of content I make but I could probably flick it over to bi-directional stereo and also omnidirectional and see how it sounds so let's do that

 If you are careful then by all means but you have been warned. So now the features are out of the way it's time to set up the QuadCast S. I'm going to set it up on my boom arm and we're going to do a live test and see how it sounds. Obviously this video so far I've recorded through the DuoCast so let's swap it out and hear what the audio sounds like through the QuadCast S

HyperX Quadcast S Review: Better Than The Duocast?

Mic has worked great so far, friends tell me my audio is much clearer and cleaner than it was when I was still using my old cyberpower headset that came with my PC. My only critique is that multiple people have told me that the mic is on the quiet end--I had to turn my mic input up all the way on Discord for others to not tell me that I'm very quiet, and I keep my mic right behind my keyboard so it's not far from my face. But otherwise it seems like a durable mic, and I like the size of it; very little space taken up on my desk. I don't use headphones and no one has mentioned hearing my game sound so it seems to do a good job filtering out sound that comes from behind the mic

Decent audio quality, much better than an old cheap headset
