My new Grados, my first open backs

Ordered a pair of Grado SR60X because i heard good things about them and i wanted to try out some open backs. I think they sound really clear. I get a good amount of bass and none of that spiking treble that people go on about. I also appreciate that they are so affordable considering they’re hand made in New York.

Grado SR60e/SR60

The Grado SR60e are subpar headphones for everyday, casual use. They have an above-average but sharp sound quality and an open design that gives them a wide soundstage compared to most on-ears. However, they leak a lot of audio and don't block any noise. They're not stable enough to use while doing sports, and they're not ideal for loud environments, commuting, or office use.

It may not seem like much but it is great enough for me. I no longer want to be tracking Sundara prices, rewatching reviews of headphones I already know I’m not going to buy, and checking Craigslist for a pair of HD600’s/6xx. A Grado SR60X with FiiO K5 Pro Dac/Amp is my endgame.

What are your favourite headphones?

Currently my Grado SR60x and Hifiman HE400SE. Yeah, I'm budget oriented, have a zero shame about that. I love the SR60x for movies and rock/accoustic/live/metal/classical music, HE400SE generally for gaming, spoken word (podcasts, YouTube videos, etc) and some genres of music that lean more towards bass and more electronic sound.

They sound great...but there's some issues

The media could not be loaded. They sounded incredible. They were comfortable to wear. They looked beautiful. Two months have passed. They sound incredible... if you don't move the cable. They're comfortable to wear...as long as you're okay with your hair getting stuck in the ear foam and adjustment...

I try on a pair of GRADO sr60x. Didn't like them. I try on a pair of Fostex. Didn't like them.

Good sound quality, poor construction

Sound quality is indeed good, hence the 3 stars. And yet. I've had these for less than a year and the foam pads that cover the ears are starting to pop off and there's no way to get them back on and make them stay. Not much of a collection, but it's mine

Currently about to hack up my SR60x because good god, is the new sleeved cable annoying - it's probably heavier than the headphones themselves, it tugs on my stack and is honestly just absurd. Have some MMCX connectors and cable on the way, those should fix it with some soldering and some elbow grease (hot gun and a drill).
