In fact, I'm so happy with the quality of the sound (which blows away my next nicest pair) that I'm already looking forward to finding something new. My setup is simple: Schiit Stack (Magni 3+ & Modi). I currently own: Audio Technica M50x (my first baby), Sennheiser HD 6XX, and the DT 1990s.

I love the SR60x for movies and rock/accoustic/live/metal/classical music, HE400SE generally for gaming, spoken word (podcasts, YouTube videos, etc) and some genres of music that lean more towards bass and more electronic sound.

Overall though what I found was that the 4XX kind of was a little bit in no-man's land between the two. It didn't have the impact and bass of the DT88...

I’m super picky and sensitive so pretty much everything feels uncomfortable. Really don’t care about sound at this point, just need comfort. Loved the Grados comfort but the cable sucks, and not confident enough for cable mod.

Although they have a high sensitivity and will run just fine just connected to a smartphone or directly to a computer, they really shine when complimented by a separate DAC/AMP. IMO, this headphone pairs best with Classical, Jazz or Rock genres. I would not go chasing Rap, R&B or EDM This is my second pair of SR60's in 10 years. My OG pair finally had the pads wear so thin that it justified getting the latest revision of this legendary headphone

I used these things mercilessly for 15 years, gaming and even sleeping with them on. They still work like new. You cannot go wrong with Sennheiser HD6xx or 58x series cans.

Also, the foam is uncomfortable and has no sound-blocking properties at all, in or out. My mic picks up my co-hosts voice through the headphones when I'm recording a podcast unless I set the volume so low I can barely hear them. Pretty disappointed as these were a major investment for me, even at a slightly cheaper price on Ebay.

Decided noise cancellation was only nice on an airplane, and I preferred wired, donl't have to turn on or charge. If you have eyeglasses or hearing aides like I do, these are perfact. Yes I have expensive Sony noise canceling blue tooth, but the HD5XX are just in a different class, use all day, gaming, general listening. Plugged directly into Gigabyte Z690 Master mobo, no need for a DAC/amp here
