 It fits well on my counter and is also easy to put away and store. I love it and would definitely recommend. This is the [Stand Hand Mixer]([URL REMOVED] I was talking about.

I've been baking my whole life and very rarely use my hand mixer. Mostly because I'm too lazy to drag it out and plug it in, but I've found that with what I make (cakes, cookies, tarts) it's very rarely needed. Note: I do use it for meringues and the like, because I'm not a crazy person. However, I've noticed that there's this attitude on recipe sites and even here that baking completely by hand isn't ideal. Take creaming butter and sugar. Most blogs say you need to beat it on high speed for a while to get a decent cake. From childhood to now, I just vigorously hand beat it until fluffy and it turns out perfect. And  I feel there's just this general attitude that either ranges from "Nope you absolutely need a hand mixer at least" to "Ehhhhh, I guess you *can* mix by hand if you really want".


What do y'all think, do you think a Kitchenaid and the like is a must for a a casual home baker?

mostly a good experience, but...

 After reading some reviews, my husband bought me this mixer and I reluctantly had it sitting in the box for a couple of months. I finally realized I wouldn't use it if the Mixmaster was still working fine, so I sold in online and pulled the Kenwood out. Wow - it is heavy, but it is effortless. If you have driven (or do drive) an old car, you know what I mean especially if it didn't (doesn't) have power-steering
