 And that's going to be the 4XX from Massdrop. So this headphone is also built really, really well in terms of the quality of material, a lot of metal use in here. I actually consider this headphone to be a little bit more comfortable off the bat just for my head shape and size, but not everybody likes the comfort of this. And this does have smaller ear pads and some people have complained that their ears don't fit in here

So that's not a point of contention for me

 So this is an extraordinarily popular headphone and I think a lot of people watching my channel already probably own this headphone and can vouch for how good it sounds. But it provides a specific sound signature and so when you're pairing other headphones, it's best to not really have the same sound signature again and again and again and to kind of differentiate the sound signature. So you can have something with wide sound stage and narrow sound stage or something that's bassier or something that's bright or something that's mid-range focused and something that's not. And if you already have this for the price, it's just about as good as it's going to get for what it's good at

 This can kind of enhance that to a really enjoyable level. So this brings me into the conclusion of the Fidelio. While it's not a headphone that I think competes on a technical level to a lot of similar to price headphones, but if you're searching for what this headphone offers, which is not necessarily a bad thing, it just depends on the type of music you listen to and the sound signature that you prefer, this is a pretty decent option. It definitely has its limitations, but I kind of enjoy listening to this for very specific music and very specific purposes

But to my ears they sound amazing, it blows the Philips fidelio x2’s out of the water imo. I’m just happy to have a pair of good headphones to have at my student apartment.

My first hifi headphones that I own

 You can feel it. It also doesn't have an adjustable headphone strap so it's one-size fits all. I have a pretty narrow head so the headphone sits very loosely on my ears. Combined with the weight it can easily shift if I tilt my head down or backwards

 It's also $200 more expensive.  I think what it boils down to is what kind of listener you are. These and the Sennheisers have a very "laid back" neutral sound quality with almost non-existent bass. As a disclaimer, I drive these things directly from my iPhone 6 99% of the time unamped

 If someone tells you that these things have solid bass running from their iPhone or other unamped source, they're crazy. I'll testify in court that my 2001 Honda Accord, stock stereo with no external subwoofer, has 2x the bass presence of these things and 8x the bass presence of the Sennheisers.  If you're like me, you're probably looking for a more aggressive or forward type of headphone. You'd rather be in the front row rather than the back row of a concert

  I bought it mainly for listening. I decided to keep it because it is definitely an upgrade from the sennheiser 558's (with foam mod) but only marginally so. It's also $200 more expensive.  I think what it boils down to is what kind of listener you are

Underwhelming but a solid performer.

 You could certainly use these for, you know, gaming online and stuff like that. If you find them for a decent price, especially under a hundred dollars, this could make a good gaming headset because they have that added bass and that added a little bit of sharpness in the highs that could be decent for gaming. I mean, especially if you're, you know, going for like something, say a little bit more cinematic, but I don't really see these as a good hi-fi. Now that is also opinion, you know, take, take what you will

 This is very much marketed towards a consumer audience that's into really sharp, sibilant highs and booming bass without much sub, which is disappointing because I actually expected a lot more from these considering their popularity and they didn't seem to fix the grain. Last time I mentioned grain and Phillips headphones, I got a lot of crap for it, but I have to be honest with it. They're just disappointing. So that being said, like I, you know, there are ways you can enjoy these

 I'm actually very surprised with them. I wasn't a big fan of the SHP9500s, but the X2s are built very nicely. Comfort is fine. I can wear them for a pretty long time

 And I tried to EQ some of it back in and I tried to EQ some of the peaks out and I really couldn't find a happy balance without getting a lot of distortion in these, which I found really disappointing. Now, that being said, if you can find these, you know, for a lower price, that's absolutely fine. I've seen some of these on eBay for 80 bucks and I think that that's a very fair price for the kind of sound you're getting, especially for the build. If you can find these for a hundred dollars or less, I think that's a decent deal

You can have both but it costs more.  Sennheiser G4me Zero and G4me One.  Same drivers and good build but with a high quality mic in a single package.

I mean the headphone that made me wanna go hi-fi was the HyperX cloud 2. And even to this day, I find that headphone doing a really good job. Sure it sounds abit grainy but it does treble in a non fatiguing way while still having enough detail

Eh, they're convenient cause they come with the mic and the Sennheiser GSP 300 are comfortable and that's really all I care about

This is defo true and is how I wish it went... However, I have a lot of friends that think 7.1 surround sound in a gaming headphone is better than more expensive stereo cans when it comes to music/audio quality when not in a game. I try to fight my corner but they *really* think that they are correct. Feels bad man.

Well. I think the beyerdynamic Tygr 300 are actually a good gaming headphobes marketet for gaming and are in the same range as the 990 pro which they are based on

I haven't seen this talked about yet. But the Turtle Beach Elite Pros are actually a pretty decent sounding headphone.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I have the astro A40s and I KNOW they sound like pure crap pushed right up in front of your ears with no depth to them. 

But the Elite Pros ACTUALLY sound good IMHO. Doesnt have the ridiculous EQ curve that all gaming headsets are known for. Bass response is quite impressive. Clear highs. And what I consider pretty impressive, soundstage? (Dont know if thata the right word, I'm still new here) Im trying to say the distinction of which instruments are coming from different directions and how well I can perceive their position in 'space'.

Currently using Senn HD25s, Koss kph30i and portapros.

*also some recommendations on where to go from here. REALLY want to get a pair of openbacks eventually. Probably between DT990 pros and HD6XXs.

Steelseries Arctis Pro User here, absolutely have no need for anything else sound wise due to the EQ being well customizable. They're great for gaming and music :). Got a different pair of headphones for music but I honestly don't hear a difference between them in quality.

Anyway, big fan of the Steelseries Arctis line and I think they're very underrated.
