So I think if you are serious about giving it a fair chance, I think you should try something like a Platinum Preppy, which doesn’t require a particular grip, and look up how to use a fountain pen or get help from a friend. Otherwise, go back to ballpoint, but know that you really didn’t engage with fountain pen in the way that’s intended.

I'm going to suggest a Platinum Preppy - cheap as anything, no drama if you lose it between classes. Throw a few bucks for silicone grease, eye-dropper it so the **entire body** is full of ink - you won't have to refill it for weeks. They're so cheap, in fact, you could easily get two and use 2 colours of ink.
