Does the “grittiness” and spin of the paddle wear down over time? If so how long does it take?

I play pickleball a few times a week and have mostly used inexpensive paddles. I consider myself a decent player and my last one was a fairly big brand name but it had some dead spots that were annoying to me. I never imagined I'd spend this much on a paddle and I never thought I could play with a shorter handle that comes with a hybrid. Getting used to the handle was an easy tradeoff for the larger sweet spot (and it is really noticeable)

We have one set of cheap-o paddles between us and want to upgrade without spending our respective food budgets for the rest of the year, so I figured I'd check if anybody in this community has "high-end" paddles they don't use anymore and would be willing to part with for a low cost? TIA!

I don't think we have specific paddle criteria although I'd be curious to try one of the elongated styles.

Used Paddles?

 Holding it just screams quality. At 8.2 ounces, it is perfect for me given its weight, balance, and generous sweet spot. Youtube and experienced players at the local club recommended a less expensive model to start
