The DJI Air 2S is our top pick for most drone users. It strikes a great balance between features and price, and in some cases outperforms much more expensive models. Its small size makes it good for travel, yet it's intuitive enough for anyone to fly.
Most notably, the Air 2S includes a camera with a 1"-type sensor, a feature previously reserved for models costing hundreds of dollars more. It captures 5.4K/30p video and 20MP photos in Raw or JPEG format, and DJI's Smartphoto feature uses computational photography techniques to deliver very high quality images. A new feature called Mastershots will even shoot a series of video clips and automatically edit them together for sharing. Pilots are aided by DJI's APAS 4.0 (Advanced Pilot Assistance System), which uses obstacle avoidance sensors to navigate around objects in the drone's path.

Same rules apply to Mini/2 and Tello as the larger Air 2 and Mavic 2s, don't fly over people or cars, don't fly over 400 ft, you must maintain line of sight and that means you or a spotter can see your drone without a telescope or binoculars, no flying into no fly zones or some other controller air spaces, FAA has B4UFly app so you can check the air spaces around you and see where you can and can't fly, night flight requires lights show you position and the orientation of drone for you and anitcollision lights visible for 3 miles for manned aircraft. and you can't make money off your drone directly or indirectly without getting a part 107 licence and registering your drone.

I received a DJI Mini 2 for Christmas and finally set it up yesterday. I am a little confused when it comes to the FAA rules. I am just using the drone for my own recreational use. Do I need to register it under the exception for recreational flyers on the FAA drone zone website or am I okay not registering at all?

First time drone owner, confused about FAA registration Mini 2 help

I want to just move on, accept that I can barely afford this as is- but I can’t get over the range factor and I haven’t even flown it yet. After seeing the Tello’s range fail horribly- I’m afraid I won’t be satisfied with my new $400 friend.

 Not only did the price suite my budget, I know that if there was any problem with my purchase. I could either get a refund or an exchange just by visiting my local Walmart!!! How much better can that be!!! I will be keeping what was sold to me because there are no problem with my orders. Too many times did I purchase from other sites that a return had to be made.   I am returning this drone due to the defective camera. Hopefully the next one will work. After printing the return label I realized it was not prepaid. I emailed DJI about this and they sent a pre-paid Fedex label for return

 I didn't think it would hold in a light breeze but it did. Impressive. Another impressive feature is how tough this drone is. It takes a beating

 I would prefer RTH but at least it didn't take off full throttle toward China like my Holy Stone model did! As for the camera - The video has obnoxious banding of green and purple. Still photos are decent. The photos are much better than anything else in this price range. Too bad about the video defect

 This thing flies like drones costing hundreds more. And the flight time is amazing for something this small - almost equal to the Spark! I didn't do a range check but I did shut down the app to see what would happen. I expected it to land or RTH but it just sat there hovering until I reconnected and told it to land. Not sure I like this feature

Great flying drone for the money! Video still leaves a LOT to be desired.

  Buy more batteries and a case for it. The batteries run the drone for about 10 minutes or so, and they need to cool after a flight before they can be recharged. So I have three batteries giving me a total of roughly 30 minutes flight time. You will need a decent case for it because the thing is tiny and doesn't fold up, so it would be utterly destroyed by tossing it in your backpack unprotected

Good choice for beginners

 The battery length is great, however in fast mode it really sucks it up. My biggest CON is when there is any disturbance, the video stream gets choppy and since it saves your video to the app as it streams, the actual saved video can be choppy when reviewing it. Also, but it is to be expected for this price range, this drone doesn't like windy conditions. #sweepstakes

Love it! Nifty little guy!

 It has plenty of lift for my purposes and has survived a couple of crashes with no adverse consequences. It is well enough behaved to use in the house. It would be nice if you could tip the camera some in its mount as it was a little tricky getting a good view of the gutters with the camera heading straight forward, but I succeeded! I gather the cameras with the ability to rotate them are on much bigger and more expensive drones.

This is a solid and easy-flying little drone.  Pros: Pricey, but a good build quality. Nice, but not great camera. Good (about 10 minute) flight time, with easy to swap-out batteries

  NOTE: If you fly outside anywhere near trees, remove the prop-guards, as they will easily hang the craft up in the branches (ask me how I know,,,).

Fun to fly indoors or out, but should have come with a controller.
