* Pilot Super 250 (Body Made May 22nd 1964), 14K "Falcon" (made December 1968), quarter-turn switch filler. Even though my Kashmir Doric in the link above was repaired after the barrel cracked in half, I couldn't bring myself to use it again due to fear of fragility even though the repairer reinforced the barrel with a silicone rod. So I got a Pilot Super 250 in trade, which at the time was the first I hear of the model. I've had this pen for **6 years now,** and it's a fun practical user with a semiflex-ish nib that has a good springback feeling

Anyway, let's look at the design of this pen, how it's put together. We'll do a writing sample, and then we'll talk about the longevity sort of stuff....

Wing Sung 601: $15 vac filler, hooded nib, nail of a fine nib. Good sort of re-pop of the classic Parker 51. Holds ink for days. Good build

Personally this bothers me at 40 bucks a pop plus inks and cartridges which will not stay lubricated forever thank goodness they are only a buck for the cartridges. The inks can be quite expensive. Last a long time but expensive to build a color library if inks for calligraphy. With the way they need ink as often as they do, they are a pain in the rear if you write or draw with them

I never thought I'd do this, but I'm recommending a Lamy 2000. It looks boring as hell and the writing experience is good but not great. However, it gives you the best bang for your buck in its price range, with the (possible) exceptions of Pilot Capless and the Platinum 3776.
