I love the matt finish and metal feel

I'm sorry if this becomes a bit rambly, and I know these things are often very subjective, but I'm looking to the wider experience of the masses for opinions.

I have only two pens: ye olde Pilot Metropolitan and the ubiquitous Lamy Safari. I'm a big fan of how they both write, though I prefer the metro for every day as I like a bit of **heft**.

I'm ready for the next step, and I have a few pens on my list, though several of these are out of reach (or stock) at the moment. These include: Faber-Castell Loom and Kaweco Liliput. I've also often looked longingly at the various TWSBI's around as well, but every time I come close to pulling the trigger, I think, "but won't it feel plasticky and cheap?" And then I talk myself out of it.

I'd also be curious about anyone's experiences between, vacuum or piston vs a normal cartridge/converter thing. I'm a bit useless and generally only clean my pen when I'm changing inks (don't kill me please). I can change!

Basically what I'm asking is what's a good next step? I would like something that looks special or has a real point of difference; I'm not really interested in a more expensive do-over of the pens I already have. I don't have a giant budget (and this is difficult to translate, as some pens that are cheap for those of you in the USA are not necessarily cheap here in NZ) But I'll look into everything.

I need help with my next pen! (Excuse the lengthiness)

 Everything feels firm and well engineered. I am amazed this company does not have more of a presence in the UK as I am sure the pens would sell well to fountain pen users and well done to Amazon for stocking them in the seemingly scarcer Black colour. Overall - highly recommended !

Refer to my previous post, I just got myself a Lamy Safari (actually two of them) for my journaling. I also am waiting for my 1.1 and 1.5 stub nibs as I prefer them for the writing. Given this, what's a good step up pen from the Lamy safari that captures (1) everyday writing/doodling (2) good compatibility with various inks and paper - i know this may be a bit subjective (3) smooth writer just like what i'm experiencing with the Lamy Safari (4) durable and has some heft to it.   

Budgeting at around $100-$150. Please state the brand and model. Thanks!

What's a good step up FP at the $100-$150 range? Currently only using Lamy Safari.

So I’ve had a pilot fountain pen for over 3 years and it has served me loyalty without complaint, but I would like to retired old faithful for something newer something nicer. Im very much a newbie to fountain pens and the pros and cons for them. I use American cursive with a preference of tight loops. Any suggestions. Note my old faithful was about 25$.

Looking for a mid range pen for everyday use

Hello, and thanks in advance for your time and help!

I've had my TWSBI Eco (EF) and Lamy Safari (F) for about a month now. I prefer the TWSBI Eco, but that may be because of the EF nib.

I want to get a pen I could "have for life" so to speak, durable, swappable parts (I know the Eco *can* be swapped, but it's probably outside of my skillset right now), and a great writer. 

Been watching videos and reading reviews, and the Diplomat Aero seems to be up my alley without being $250+ dollars. A style I like, snappable cap for quick notes, durable, different nibs, etc.

But jumping from a $35 pen to a $180 pen after just a month in the hobby is making me pause. I don't want to go too far too quick unless people think it's a logical jump.

So **tl;dr**, is this an okay jump so quick into the hoby, or are there more intermediate (and intermediately priced) pens I could try out? Thank you!

[Advice] TWSBI Eco to Diplomat Aero - Too Big a Jump Too Fast?

For the past year or so I've been focusing on using only one fountain pen at a time. I haven't been perfect at it, but more often than not I just have one pen inked, and depending on the tank size it'll last for a week to a month. Freshly inked today is my Diplomat Aero 18k.

Need Advise on my next purchase. Budget sub $150.

Moonman M2 or Diplomat Aero shape, weight being almost exactly between the two. With a 14k hooded nib, Pilot preferably. Either cartridge converter or eyedropper.

What is your ideal pen? By that I mean what nib on what body with what kind of filling mechanism?
