I have Flip 5 and Xtreme 3 and I have to say that PartBoost is not good solution. It's range is very bad and even if I have both speakers close to each other it losts connection. The worst part is that speakers don't reconnect automatically so I have to retry whole procedure. Power off, power on, and enable PB again

JBL Xtreme 3 Review

My question is, is there any firmware, software or hardware hack which would allow us to override the auto power-down feature and have the speaker "on" and waiting for bluetooth connections until and unless we *physically* turn it off with the power switch, in our own time? Has any workaround to this been released or discovered?

Is there any sort of firmware or hardware hack to keep the Xtreme 3 powered on indefinitely when plugged in and not in use?

put the saved money towards more music or whatever (or a second speaker to pair together). I think that if the sound produced by either of those is great to you then it probably isn't enough better sound quality to justify getting the Xtreme 3 for the price difference. Without playing them side to side (like may videos), you probably wouldn't hear enough difference to justify the cost.  Maybe there was an issue with the Xtreme 3 I received so take this all as my opinion and possibly a defective product (all manufacturers have occasional bad ones)

they were very muffled. It sounded meh at best with club music, but rock, country, acoustic or any other music with emphasis on vocals, strings and keybaord instruments wasn't great. Ever listen to Van Halen and barely hear Eddie's guitar? How about Kenny Chesney sounding like he has a coffee cup in front of his mouth? Or, what about a very dull sounding ukulele with Iz singing Beautiful World? That isn't good my ears. I will admit that I am into sound and have had quality equipment (I played nice electric guitars through Marshall half stacks with tube heads and a lot of effects like Rockman-Scholz, Alesis, and listening to music with B&O H9i headphones, Focals in my HD, etc)

  I will return this and try the Aiwa Exos-9 which is bigger but less money (of course, it sounds a lot better in youtube video comparisons, but I only take that for what it's worth ..wink, wink).

 It had a good amount of bass (not low, but mid bass) and very poor mids. The highs were somewhat tinny sounding and a little hissy at much over 50 percent volume. Most vocals sounded like the singer was singing into a cup or soup can and there were many mid range sounds (keyboard, guitar, etc.) that you could barely hear 

Sound isn't as it is hyped to be.

I've tried the JBL xtreme 3 but when it was above 90% volume, the highs totally overlap the basses and sound awful and that shouldn't be for 250€ speakers.  

 A shame that JBL couldn't figure out the simple things for what would otherwise be a five star speaker.

 I will turn on the speaker and be listening to music, but my wife will unintentionally cut-in from elsewhere in the house because her phone and pc are also connected. There is no way to clear the Bluetooth connections without resetting to factory (and like I said, can't really do that since the app won't connect). A shame that JBL couldn't figure out the simple things for what would otherwise be a five star speaker.

is the xtreme 3 loud enough for outdoors?

What disappointed me is charging, the USB C is really great, but the speaker only manages to charge with a 65w charger, that the 45w charger cannot be charged during operation.  I thought that Samsung's chargers would be compatible, and everything would work.  Unfortunately 45w is not possible

JBL is a brand of quality and great speakers, Xtreme 3 disappointed me a bit with the bass component. Advice needed on which speaker to buy

Woefully overpriced. Expected a big difference in output and sound quality from Charge series. There isn’t. All you are getting is more bass and even then the speaker has to be at high volume to produce any reasonable sound output

 High and mid range output seems less than the Charge series. Incredible fail by JBL in my book. Was considering BoomBox but now I fear it’s just another packaging of the same weak components. At this price point it should be a whole lot more
