Except with these headphones. With the HD820s, I feel the need to pull Danny Carey’s drums closer to me, which I do by turning the volume up, but then that makes everything else too loud. And Maynard James Keenan’s vocals are somehow less heart-wrenching as a result, which I think we can all agree is an insufferable offense

I was comparing the 800S and 820 before I bought it... From personal impressions, if the 800S makes you feel like you're listening to music in a concert hall, the 820 sounds like you're doing it in the bathroom. Which is flooding. Something strange with the tonal balance of these headphones. Oh yeah, and they don't feel at all more detailed than the 800/800S.

That chart is complete bollocks! I mean, who eats a Bratwurst without mustard? And what kinda madman drinks out of glass instead of a Maßkrug? Also, I have it on good authority that the "Barbie Shower Edition" was rescheduled to be released durign Q2 of 2021, since that october slot will be used for the HD 820 Oktoberfest Edition.

These were the best headphones within my price range that provided the right balance of clarity and bass. The other option was the Audeze LCD-MX4, which to me had all the benefits of the HD 820's clarity, but with marginally better soundstage and bass response and impact. These were 3 times the price however, and thus didn't fit into what I could justify to purchase.
