Parker Vector vs Parker 51

* Lamy Safari - Once more a very simple pen, sure they have a preparatory converter but that can be offset by how easy the nibs are to change. Seriously if you don't like the nib on one pull it off get a new one and slip it on, simple as. It will allow you to try a variety of different sized nibs to discover which best suits you.

This is my favorite pen gifted to me by my twins for Mothers day. Easy to use, I use it daily, but I did notice if o do not use it for a couple days it's hard to get the ink going. Nothing running it under hot water won't fix.

So this lower pen. This is the exact model and finish that I purchased when I was 10 years old back in 1980. Whatever it was for 399 at the News Cente...

I have no real requirements other than a nice, interesting writing experience (either because it's a flex/stub or because it writes beautifully, like a Parker 51, or whatever other reason), but I admit I'll start balking if the price climbs too high unless there's a good justification - I plan on using this pen, so something like a Namiki is out of the question since I'd be terrified to get those pieces of art dirty or drop it or lose it. I don't know what to choose, though, so I'm going to put it out there for opinions.

Pilot Metropolitan (finer nib point options with a sturdy body, nibs can easily be swapped out next time just buying the cheap plumix instead).

This pen is really, really disappointing. 1. The nib is cheap and scratchy. Not well made

While looking for a replacement, I found out about Pilot VPs, bought one, and have been using it ever since. Here's why I'm not going back to cheaper pens for work:

Feels too light and cheap to be what the Parker pens used to be. Squeals when you turn to open and close. Quality definitely lacking. Amazon has other pens of better quality under old brand names

Parker Quink Black and Blueblack - because they're just gray with different undertones and I used to hate their shading. After a couple years I've developed a love for shading, so "black" became my favourite daily "work-appropriate" ink.

Only works with bottled ink, but even by writing several pages (probably 20 at max) each day, I fill it once a month (or every 2 weeks depending on usage). The MK II model I use is less expensive and plain than the MK V that's around on eBay for around 40 bucks, even though the latter is worth every penny it costs.
