 This will be the hardest test for image quality in the middle of the lenses projected image. Firstly, add 150 millimeter and f5. The lenses pretty sharp in the middle and the corners are quite good too, though a little chromatic aberration is visible. Now the corners are a touch sharper at f/8, but on aps-c

7 meters, not especially close, but you can get images of smaller subjects here, if you're happy to do so at 600, millimeter @, f, 6.3, the close-up image has pretty ghostly. Looking contrast, f/8 is far sharper. Looking, though, and at f11 there's a further improvement, long, telephoto lenses come with deep lens hoods because they do not like bright lights

 It weighs about 2 kilos manageable, but your arms will get tired if you're carrying it around for more than a couple of hours. The lens mount is made of metal. Unsurprisingly, and it's edged with a weather sealing gasket, the focus ring is rubberized. It'S not particularly smooth to turn, and it can be very slightly sticky, but actually it's quite precise enough for easy manual focusing you can turn it at any time in manual or auto focus mode, and it does not have hard stops

 6.3 is also letting in just about enough light for your camera's autofocus system to work properly as well, and it worked fine on my Canon 6d more on that in a minute. First, though, let's look at the build quality on this contemporary version of the lens, the rear section and the tripod mount are made of metal, but the front section plastic. All in all

Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM 'C' lens review with samples (Full-frame & APS-C)

 The 800mm f/11 was also lighter weight than the Sigma 150-600mm contemporary for Nikon.

 With the Nikon D3200 and Sigma 150-600mm, I often used the 600mm end. It's my personal sweet spot and I still have to sneak up on the birds. The problem with the 600mm end is with a maximum aperture of f/6.3, the autofocus system was not always reliable even with proper settings and back button focus

 I rented the Canon R5, a 24-70mm RF, an 800mm f/11 RF, and a cable for the R5. In short, they were way more pleasing than the tools I owned.

 I could fit the 100-400 in my camera bag just fine with the hood and camera attached, but I had to upgrade my bag for this. That said, the reach is AWESOME, coming from a 200mm. I’m using it on a Nikon D7500, giving an effective 900mm telephoto reach. The construction of the lens seems very high quality and solid

 The reason I upgraded was because I loved the 400mm reach and got addicted to it, and figured 600 was better than 400, right?? I will say that this is quite a bit bigger and heavier than the 100-400mm version (twice the weight). Your forearm WILL get tired of you handhold this for too long, but it’s bearable. The autofocus on this is a little slower than the 100-400mm, and it seems to hunt more - but it’s possible it’s because the extra reach compresses the scene more (that’s just a guess, I don’t know if that’s actually how it works). Costwise it’s not much more than the 100-400, so I would base your decision on whether you’re okay with the extra size and weight

 You can't go wrong putting this in your bag, if you're shooting birds, if you're shooting nature, if you're shooting anything outdoors. Where I draw the line, is if you're going to try to use this indoors. It'S not going to give you what you want, but I do recommend this, and that is all I'm going to say about this., And that is another Real World Review this time of the Sigma 150 to 600mm contemporary version, lens

. No didn't think I would going into it because I'm not a big fan of super mega zooms like this, but now that I've used it in the real world. It gave me something that I may not have been able to get even with the more expensive lenses.

Jared: So, here were are today in Atlantic
City to test out this Sigma 150 to 600 mm

Now, this is an f/5.0 to 6.3 lens and we are
here to shoot the Atlantic City air show they

like to call it, "Thunder over the boardwalks.”

So, to give this the best Real World Review
possible that I can, I am using two different

bodies, we have the crop sensor 7D Mark II
as well as the full-frame 5D Mark III.

I wanted to give it the best possible results
that I could, so we're going test it out on

So, Sigma makes two different versions of
this lens, this is the contemporary version

which is a little more affordable than the
sports version, the sports version roughly

Now, there are some subtle differences, this
weighs about two pounds less than the sports

version, but I thought that I wanted to test
out the more affordable one right here in

Jared: So, generally speaking, I'm not a big
fan of the histogram but now that we're outside

in a really bright day that I can't get a
good representation of the photo that I'm

taking on the back of the screen, I am looking
at the histogram, I am looking for that spike

That's what I'm looking for to make sure that
my exposure is going to be as close as possible

with the raw file, so after the fact, I can
bring it to life in Lightroom.

Jared: So, let's talk about the weight of
this lens, will you use a monopod or a tripod

Now, well, I personally came out here not
using a monopod or a tripod because I thought

Now being that it's about four pounds, a little
over four pounds, it could get a little cumbersome

over time but it's not too heavy and that's
why the contemporary version if you're looking

for something that's lighter it could be a
good option for you.

Jared: Done it from – we got a 600mm in
front of me in the way.

So, one thing to keep in mind is that this
is a variable aperture lens, what that means

is at 150mm it's in f/5.0, as you zoom you're
losing light it's going down to f/6.3.

So, one of the things that I'm doing out here
today is shooting in manual and making sure

that my aperture is at 6.3 or a little higher,
I don't want it to be at f/5.

0 in case I zoom out and then it changes to
6.3.

Jared: So, one of the important features you
want to look for in a mega zoom lens like

Now, Sigma has their OS and they have two
different versions of it in this lens, one
