With the Nikon D3200 and Sigma 150-600mm, I often used the 600mm end. It's my personal sweet spot and I still have to sneak up on the birds. The problem with the 600mm end is with a maximum aperture of f/6.3, the autofocus system was not always reliable even with proper settings and back button focus. It would sometimes fail to acquire focus at all.

Update May 2016: Recent firmware patches have improved the autofocus performance. UPDATE Jan. 2016: I did indeed buy the docking station and there has been one firmware released that made auto-focus do a better job for me! This is one very shiny toy. The soft bag it comes with protects the lens somewhat, but is more flexible than the stock Nikon bags, and that makes it more difficult to stuff the lens back in since it keeps collapsing and folding over itself. Lastly, the wide angle lock switch seems somewhat unnecessary, as the zoom ring already functions as a lens lock if you push it forward, while the switch only works at 150mm. The marking also feels flipped to me, as when red is showing it's actually locked, whereas in most other safety applications it would mean it's live. Overall I'm quite happy with the lens, and I look forward to taking more photos with it!.

The USB dock for firmware updates and the greater flexibility of the focus limiter switches had me leaning towards the Sigma before spotting an suitable example to bid on, but had I seen the Tamron I may well have gone the other way. ​. After nearly a year of using the Sigma I remain very happy with it, using it near daily as I am lucky enough to have a variety of birds who frequent the garden.. including this visitor over the weekend which I captured on my 80D at 600mm f/8 1/800s ISO 200 :).

I use the Sigma 150-600 with the Sigma 2x teleconverter on my RP and 77D. I have no complaints as of yet.
